How many minutes does it take to walk from the Desert PALM Hotel to DL?

That was the closest suite we could get to DL. How long of a walk should I plan for. My dh and I are both very athletic, and we will probably take turns carrying our 3 year old to expedite the process. My mom can't walk quite as fast, so she may take my son on the shuttle and meet us in there.

So is it more than 15 minutes do you think? (I really wanted the Tropicana, but they had no suites)

I was hoping someone might have firsthand experience. My hotel isn't on the first link, and the second link still doesn't tell me about how long it will take. I think it's about a half a mile.

In the absence of first hand experience I would try to estimate based on other hotels that are nearby.

If that's the hotel right next to 7-11, then the walk is probably about 5-10 minutes. You just have to walk a bit down Harbour Blvd.

Once you get there, you can decide if it's in your best interest to use the shuttle. The hotel probably sells the ART shuttle tickets.

Depending on walking speed, I would estimate 15 minutes. It has been posted many times over here that it takes 10 minutes from the Candy Cane, and I'd estimate another 5 minutes to get around the corner to the Desert Palms.

Has anyone stayed at both the Desert Palms and Ramada Plaza? They look like a similar walk and I would like a comparison on walking time before my August trip. 13 days! :cool1: :cool1:

Another option is going in the back gate at the parking lot and catching the tram in (if it's running for that parking lot). It will probably take longer, but it might work for your mom or late at night.

Do mind posting a hotel review when you get back? We're staying there in early Sept. and I've heard mixed reviews so I'm sort of nervous.

We've walked directly down Harbor, as well as taken the shuttle to the walk in parking lot entrance on Katella. The shuttle seems to cut the distance significantly, but the walk seemed to take about the same time because the hotel entrance is on the end of the hotel closest to Katella. We didn't try to enter the doors of the hotel closest to the walk in gate, although our room keys would likely have unlocked the door.

I've stayed at the Desert Palms twice, and would recommend it (if you don't mind the walk). Loved having the 7-11 next door to pick up waters, sodas and healthy snacks (bagels, yogurt, etc). The free breakfast was your basic cereal, toast, fruit, and donuts. The rooms were clean, beds slightly on the firm side. Mini fridge in the room was one of the taller ones that will hold the taller water & soda bottles. Both times we stayed, we got upgraded to suites from the standard rooms for no charge. In the bigger suite, there is a full size fridge, etc. Front desk was very nice, and quite helpful. If you book through expedia, etc. make sure you bring your confirmation print out as we've seen those reservations seem harder for them to locate on check in than the ones you book with them directly.
