Preparing for my disney trip in 20 days and I was just wondering if any one knows how many miles does the average person walk per day at disney? Thanks so much!
my DW walks 5-7 miles a day 5 days a week. she is a RN. but at WDW we figured with the help of a pedometer(measures how many steps you take and turns them in to feet/miles) and we avgd 10.5 miles a day last year. hope this is helpful
Yea! Thats great news for me, I dont want to gain any weight this trip but I dont want to give up anything either! lol I want my cake and eat it too! lol
2 weeks ago we stayed at Beach Club Villas, and walked a little less than we could because we have a 6 year old (no stroller), but a little more because of a long walk from our room and several walks into EPCOT.
We just returned from WDW yesterday and last Sunday when we went to MK I put on a pedomiter to see how far we would walk. I put it on as we were leaving the POP and looked at it when we got back there that night and we had walked 14.25 miles in one day. I was shocked.
OK here is some quick unofficial WW math...if you walk 4 miles per hour you will burn approx 400 calories. At 10 miles per day that is 4000 calories. One pound is the equivilent of 3500 calories. So in theory, if you eating stayed the same (which it doesn't) and you didn't take in more calories than you would at home (which is unlikely) you would lose approx 1 lb per day.
While I would love to say that is going to happen, reality sets in and I know I will eat far more than I do at home so all the walking "in the world" will probably either balance at a break even point or provide me with a half pound or less daily weight loss.
Well my family goes comando (no- not sans underwear the other comando) on our last trip I took a pedometer and we averaged 17.2 miles per day each day for our 7 day stay.
Wow. My wife and I have been walking 10-15 miles a week to get in shape for our trip next month. Judging by these posts, I guess we need to pick up the pace!
I logged ~12 miles on the day I measured (mostly a Magic Kingdom day). I was the designated "FastPass" fetcher. Therefore, the kids did less, and were happier for it, I think.
