I have recently finished reading an article in Fortune magazine's January issue called "Mouse Hunt" and just wondering how many member s have been to Stanley Gold & Roy Disney's site
What do you think and has anyone signed the petition?

I support Roy Disney and have signed the petition and I have had many of my family and friends do the same.
I have quickly discovered this is a controversial subject. I'm surprised, all I want is for Disney to clean up a little in all areas, including the parks. I think it needs to go back more to the standards Walt had set and live up to its name. I know times have changed, but I don't want to see it become an expensive version of Six Flags. JMHO
This thread will probably get moved to the debate board or deleted. Just a heads up.

I didn't visit it until now. Thanks for posting the thread.

No, I didn't sign. Just because "Roy" has the Disney name attached to his, doesn't mean that he has Walt's vision.

When Roy was in charge, he wasn't doing such a good job and with the stock at rock bottom in 1984, brought in Eisner.

Eisner has made Disney the place we all love today. If it hadn't been for his business sense and "vision", we would not be enjoying the themed resorts, maybe even DVC.

I feel that Eisner deserves to finish out his contract. Perhaps in 2006, it could be time once again for a renewing, but come on, leave the man alone. Roy is just whining because he can't be Walt!

Gee, look at the stock, it has come up almost $!0 since Roy and Gold left. Hum....what does that say?

I agree with Nink. As far as the thread being moved or deleted...what does this have to do with DVC specifically? Notice many threads are move unless they are DVC specific. If there is already a similar thread in the forum where the mod wants to move this into, it is better to delete it than create what is basically a duplicate thread.

I hadn't heard about the saveDisney site and wouldn't have known about it except for this thread. It has something to do with DVC in my opinion because of the money we have given Disney, and it's WDW that most of us go to when staying in the villas. So, from an newsworthy point of view I'm happy for the thread.

I do not think Roy Disney was in charge of Disney, I believe it was Ron Miller, Disney's son-in-law that Eisner replaced.

I have visited the site and signed the petition. I just can't resist mentioning that the new site links to an article of mine, "The Jobs Factor"! You have to scroll down on the home page to get to the link.

FWIW, this board sometimes serves as a general discussion board for DVC members. Sometimes the mods let it go, sometimes they move a thread. The recent thread on bus schedules at Epcot resorts really belonged on the Transportation board, but I don't have any problem with such threads remaining here. (And no surprise it wasn't moved, as Doc posted it!)

Actually, this website has been mentioned a coupel times on the DVc board already by others. They were moved and deleted. I too feel many DVc members woudl be interested. The success of DVC plays off heavily on the sucess of the parks, yes? I was told it did not pertain to this board.

I do agree Eisner did wonderful things for the company, but that was then and we are in the now. Even if you disagree, there are many good articles on that site to give insight into Roy's agenda.
Even the other day I mentioned my Mom has a neigborhood who also owns DVC and they are not for Roy. I understand there are two sides to this.

I will be displaying the bumper sticker when I get it for signing up to receive newsletters from his site. I'll all for promoting it! ;)

erikthewise, I'll go check out your article now! Very neat, indeed.

I agree with the posters that see the "Save Disney" campaign as relavent to the DVC Board as the future of the Disney Company is very important to the value of our DVC investment.
The arguement that Disney stock is up doesn't mean a lot as these people are mostly looking at short term earnings.
Posters should do some reading and research before making hasty judgements.
I have signed the petition and hope other DVC owners will too!

While we realize that some feel that ANYTHING related to Disney is a DVC issue (and therefore appropriate for this board), there is no direct relationship between DVC and this website and it is therefore off-topic for the DVC Board.

Please feel free to direct any comments on the News/Rumors Board, there are threads available there.

Thanks!
