How many large suitcases in a full size car?

We've rented a full-size car at Dollar. According to their website it's a Dodge intrepid or similar. Now DH is freaking out about us not having enough trunk space after all the shopping I (hope) to do!

We plan to use our upgrade coupon, hopefully something is available. What's been your experience using this coupon?

The Intrepid has one of the largest trunks you will find in a rental car.

We had a Dollar Dodge Stratus, a mid-size, on one of our trips last year and the trunk was huge. We were able to get two large suitcases into the trunk.

Largest trunk, huh? Poor Dh, his hopes of curtailing my shopping have been dashed!

The intrepid's trunk is approx. 18.4 cubic feet, gas tank 17. gal.
The Impala is 18.6 cubic feet, 17 gal gas tank.
They are the largest trunks of all the rental cars in the full size group.
