How Many Hours to Drive to HH from Northern NJ?

Ok experienced NJ DVCers - how many hours would it take to drive to HH from Northern NJ?

We drive from Northeastern CT and it takes us 16 hours door to door. It takes us a little less than three hours to get across the George Washington Bridge so I would guess it would be about 13 hours for you.

It is 12 hours with no stopping or driving 100 mph. I did it in June from Clifton. It took 13 1/2 hours with a stop over for breakfast.

Almost 14 hrs for us. We live close to Morristown.

It is 12 hours if you leave at night (10:00) and drive through the night and early morning. That works for me as my children are asleep and I do not have to contend with their demands. My average speed is 75 mph. Try it next time!

Leaving from central Jersey on Sunday morning at 5AM, with minimal gas and rest stops, it took us 12.5hrs to the resort.

I'm in the Hartford area (Vernon) and have been trying to talk my husband into driving to HH. I have a few questions, if you don't mind.

Your 16 hour door to door -- what day of the week and what time of day? And how many stops? What directions did you follow -- Mapquest, Triple A, etc?.

Hi Margaret,

We live in the Northeast Corner of CT but used to live in Manchester!

Anyway...we usually leave very early in the morning (3am or so) and drive straight through. We usually travel on a weekday but have also traveled on weekends with similar drive times. Leaving early allows us to miss rush hour traffic in the major cities so our drive time is not affected.

As for directions...it's pretty much "get on 95 and stay on 95". we go through New York and over the George Washington Bridge and then we don't get off of 95 until Exit 8 in South Carolina...the exit for the resort.

We drive with our 2 kids, ages 10 and 7. We put them in the car when we leave and they usually go right back to sleep. They are good car travellers, which helps.
