open the car door for your date/gf/wife? My XH always did this for me and I've come to expect this from guys I date and if they don't do this I am disappointed. I feel that a guy should open doors for a lady. How do you tell a guy that doesn't open doors that you would like this?

I surprisingly have a friend that opens doors for me and such. Never had to say anything to him but he believes in treating a woman like a woman! If I'm dating a guy and would like for him to open the door for me I'll stand in front of it until he does looking at him like he's stupid. Trust me if we were in public he would not want me to publicly announce how inconsiderate he is!! LOL!! I don't think I've once had to say anything, just giving them that look usually works for me! I can open my own door to get out of the car..but it's nice if you'd open it for me to get into the car, and frankly if ya don't...I'm not getting in!

I will open a door for pretty much any lady. I have seen every reaction from gratitude to shock, and even had one or two be offended... "I can open my own door!" My response to this is... "okay, but don't let it hit you... (you know the rest)."

On the few occasoins where I don't at least open the car door for DW I feel like a heel.

For my DW but you know it's love when the lady you unlock and open door for slides over and unlocks your while your walking around to get in.::yes:: :wave2:

Prior to having kids I always did this..
Now, with getting the kids in their seats it is difficult to do..:D

DH always did...until we had kids. Now Im lucky if he unlocks it with the remote.

Not my DH - it seems that we are always rushing and trying to get DD together.

DH has always opened the door for me and we've been married 37½ yrs! Before the remote, I'd unlock his door as he walked to his side. I thought everyone did this.

Poohstyx

When DH and I started going out, he always opened the door for me........until he slammed it on my foot and broke my foot. :faint: I can close the door for myself thank you very much. After 18 yrs of marriage, he still opens my door occasionally. More if we approach the car from "my side".

My dh always opens and shuts my door and I reach over and unlock his side.

I always open my own door. The last guy I dated opened it ever time for me but now in hine sight I know that wasn't the most important thing for me. he dumped me, LOL I don't expect much from guys, ex: opening doors, flowers, dinners, trips, nights out, sure they are nice but I do expect RESPECT just like I give to them. :D

DH would if I remembered to let him. When we started dating, he would get so frustrated because I'd just sling the door open myself. He would say "My Great-grandmother is rolling over in her grave right now, you have to let me open the door!" He also won't let a lady sit in the back seat of the car. My dad/brother think this is nuts, but he says a lady should never sit in the back seat.

I remember dating one guy who used to do this all the time and now that I don't have it at all, sometimes I miss it. It always shocks me now, I guess, when a guy will have me go ahead of them, and then open doors and the like. If you find out how to ask to get this, let me know ;)

my boyfriend always does.

I also reach over and unlock his door for him in the car.

He sometimes gets frustrated too when I beat him to it....but hey...sometimes he's just too slow....like when we are shopping...and there is a sale :p

Oh my!!! If that weren't so painful it would be funny!

The only time DH ever opened the car door for me was when we were in college and he drove this old car that had the lock broken on the drivers side so you had to unlock the passenger side first.

I never really thought he should. It would probably shock me to death if he tried now!
