My maternal grandparents had 5. My paternal grandparents had 1 (me).

Both sets only 2. My Mom was sort of an only child( her older Sister died when she was 3).
My Dad was an only child. His Dad when he was a baby & 10+ years later my Grandmom got remarried to a Widower. My Granpop's ( Dad's Stepfather) son from his first marriage had no children.

On my Mom's side there were 20 of us, although most of us never met those grandparents (they were both gone before we were born). On my Dad's side there were 9 of us. Can you guess which side of my family was Catholic?

Paternal: 7 (but they both died before several of us were born).
Although @ronandannette we were bucking the trend. The Catholic side had fewer than the Protestant side of the family.

Both sets of my kids’ grandparents have 4.

My dad's mom had 16 grandkids. My mom's mom only had 3 (my sister, brother and me). Mom's brother never had kids, which probably ended up being a good thing.

DH has around 75 first cousins; not exactly sure how they’re divided between the two sides.

paternal-??????????? dad had 10 siblings and while i met some i never met all of my cousins. at least one was close in age to my mom. i only know that i was the youngest of all the grandchildren.

My mom's side there are 7 of us. For the longest time there was only 3, but my uncle married a younger woman for his second marriage and they had 4 kids together.

My dad's side there is just 2 of us. We are 13 years apart and unfortunately my younger cousin never got to meet our grandparents as they passed before he was born.

Maternal---- I had 50 first cousins We saw most of them 6-8 times a year. Only time all together was for grandparents birthdays. Biggest cake in the world (as least it seemed that way to a kid)

Father---had some but not real contact.
