How many fly Southwest from Atlanta to Orlando? Are they the best low fare airlines to book?

So give me your opinions? Better than Spirit or Frontier?
Southwest
Probably more flights
2 free checked bags
"open" seating (you decide if that's good or bad)

Spirit
Few flights
Older planes
Pay for bags (checked or carry on)
Pay for assigned seats
Not as much room between seats

Frontier
Can't help you, but I"m guessing closer to Spirit than Southwest.

Southwest is not always a "low fare airline" any more.

The above is correct except for spirit having older planes. They've been taking deliveries of new A319/320s for the past several years. There airplanes are definitely newer than SWAs

IMHO out of those three airlines, Southwest is the better airline hands down. As far as Spirit and Frontier, I have heard horror stories of people being nickel and dimed with fees, bad service, etc..

More so than the three airlines above, I would recommend Delta which is the legacy carrier that provides service between MCO and Atlanta and provides much better service and larger aircraft, they also have flights nearly every hour between MCO and ATL which is their hub.

JetBlue will also start new service between MCO and ATL starting March 2018, that might be worth checking as well, they may have some introductory fares.

I think you’d be ok with any of them. You’re flying a popular, short-haul route. Not sure which would be cheapest since all 3 have different fees. If I had to choose between the 3 I would do Frontier with their Works package which would get me a larger reclining seat at the front of the plane, a carry on, one suitcase, and free cancellation. I can’t do WDW trip without luggage since I buy so many souvenirs and I wouldn’t take a chance on open seating in or out of MCO. This might not be the choice for you if you just want the cheapest price though.

Outside of those 3, I’d go with MrKnight and pick Delta.

FWIW, Delta schedules the ATL to MCO flights at just under 1 hour and 30 minutes. The flight will usually be more like an hour or hour and 15 minutes, but depends on taxi time and lots of other variables. I think we’ve made it in as little as (approx) 55 minutes before, but everything went right from start to finish. :-)

I can’t vouch for this website and its accuracy, but assuming it’s legit, it provides some interesting comparisons on the airlines currently flying that route:

We usually find Southwest has the best fares. Usually find fares for $49 or $59 each way. Delta can't come close. If Southwest doesn't have the cheap fares then I do Delta but out of here. I don't bother to drive to Atlanta to fly Delta.
I wouldn't do the Spirit due to their lack of schedule choices. Frontier seems to be the same. Plus I've never found their cheaper by the time yo add in all their crazy fees

Was hoping to hear from you on this one. I'm asking these questions because I am hoping that my very first flight in February will go smooth and my fear of flying will be overcome. My husband is hoping so as well, as he does the driving to Disney when we go. So I am now on the journey of educating myself about air travel, pricing, deals, policies, ect.

Thanks for the heads up. Of course I had no idea.
