We are now thinking of renting accommodation because our party is growing :)

To anyone who has rented before which entrance did you use if there is more than the main entrance?

Also, how long did it take to walk to that entrance? Thanks folks

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you asking about Disneyland or Walt Disney World? Are you asking about driving in and the different ways to get there or the turnstiles at a particular park?

I'm sure somebody will have your answer, but we need a little more info :)

Remind me again......are you heading to DisneyLAND?

Assuming Disneyland.

Where are you renting the accommodation? Are you talking about a vacation home? If you are renting in the Anaheim location, then you have the option of catching the Anaheim Rapid Transport (ART) system. The buses will all let you off at the bus area just off Harbor Boulevard near the promenade main entrances.

General public can enter the Disneyland park either through the Main Street entrance in the promenade area or get on the monorail at DownTown Disney to Tomorrowland. You will need to pass security/bag check for both.

It will take about 5 - 7 minutes; depending on how quick/slow you walk and which bus stop you get dropped off at. This does not factor in bag check time.

If you hire a car and drive to Disney, you're probably parking a car at the Disney parking lots. You can catch Disney transport to Downtown Disney end near the promenade area. It will take about 2 - 3 minutes to get to bag check from where the transport drops you off.

For Disney California Adventure park, their Buena Vista Street entrance is also in the promenade area; same as for Disneyland Main Street entrance. There is another entrance to DCA from the Grand California. That takes you to the Grizzly Run area. But I think that if it was busy, they do check to see if you have a room key for the GC.

Apologies for the lack of info. Disneyland it is. We will have no car. Not sure where yet as we just thought of this and are still looking into all the pros and cons hence the entrance question. I think I read somewhere that we can catch a bus to some parking lot where we can catch the tram to the entrance but have no idea which parking lot.
If anybody has stayed in a house/condo any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We have this house booked for next April... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Vacation...t_Home_Walk_To_Disney-Anaheim_California.html
The house reviews are really amazing.

We stayed in a vacation rental off Walnut (the opposite side of Disneyland to Harbour).

We absolutely loved it. We walked out of the complex, crossed a road, then walked along past a car park to Downtown Disney. The walk was maybe 15-20 minutes, but we didn't find it any more of a problem than when we stayed at Hojo.

We did once catch the tram from the car park which was less walk, but no quicker, and we also once caught the Monorail from Downtown Disney. Again, slightly shorter walk, but no quicker. We really enjoyed the walk.

We loved walking back at night and watching the Fireworks as we walked, or being at home and watching the fireworks out of our bedroom window! (Or watching from the pool)

We would never stay at a hotel there again. Vacation rental is the way to go.

Now that is the info I need to hear, Thank You. My grandkids are 2, 5, 6 do you think that would be a problem re the walking as we would most likely go home for a nap midday.
Also, did you walk back late at night, I am thinking of my DD & SIL (or DH & me) going out on a date ;)
Also, are there charges to use the tram and monorail you talk of ??
Once again, thank you all :thumbsup2

The walk to the tram is very short, so absolutely no problem for anyone. To walk the whole way into Disneyland, I would want a stroller for the 2 year old, but that would be for all of Disneyland. The amount of walking to the parks is nothing compared to the number of K's you'll be walking within the park!

We walked back a few nights as the fireworks were going off, so I guess it was 9pm ish. It was fine. Wouldn't do it by myself, but as a couple or family I would say it was fine.

The tram is free. It's just the one you would use if you drove to Disneyland. Anyone can use it for free.

The monorail goes from Downtown Disney into the parks to tomorrowland. You need your Disneyland ticket to ride as it takes you directly into the park, not via the main entrance.

Let me know if you need any more info.

We have just got back from staying in this wonderful condo
http://www.vrbo.com/361877
It was about 1 1/2 miles to Disneyland. We drove about 2 minutes to the Toy Story Parking lot (off Sth Harbor) and then caught the buses to DL. One day we also went to the Mickey and Friends parking structure which is the one you get the trams from. For the location of this condo the Toy Story lot option worked best. The condo owner also has 3 other rental properties near DL and I bet they are all as fantastic as the one we stayed in.

CarolineNZ, we also stayed in one of Brittas other condos. It was fabulous. She has her own style, and I could tell it was hers just by looking at the photos of your condo!
We loved it and it had absolutely everything (plus more) that we needed.

:thumbsup2 - Yes Britta does an amazing job with her rentals, so well equipped and so much more comfortable for a family than staying in a hotel room.

Thank you Shaz for your offer of more info, I have sent you a PM.
Are you able to share which condo you stayed in off Waltnut? Thanks

It was the second one. I PM'd Ann. Would have been good if I was smart enough to know how to do a link!!

Hi Ann,

My kids were 2, 4 and 6 when we went in September this year. There is a LOT of walking involved at Disneyland. We stayed at HoJos and had a double pram and often the kids would fight over who had to walk and who got to ride in the pram. Our 2 year old actually walked more than our 4 year old during the trip, which is not surprising based on their personalities. My 6yo was a real trooper and walked an awful lot while we were there, but sometimes he needed a break too, especially at the end of the day. I just thought I'd point that out. :)

Thank you for pointing this out. My DD and SIL don't want to take the dbl stroller but I think I am going to offer to look after it and push it what you say is so true about the amount of walking in Disneyland and then maybe having to walk home to the vacation rental also the other problem is DH and I are not capable of carrying them anymore.
