If so how crowded is it in the parks? We would probably stay at Shades of Green to save points however, I am going to call MS to inquire about availabilty anyway. We have never been over that time period so I wonder if it is very crowded like MLK weekend, President's weekend or 4th of July?? I would hope it would NOT be as crowded as Easter/Spring break weeks or Thanksgiving weekend. Anyone know??? Thanks

I can't remember how many years ago, we weren't even in DVC yet, so prior to 2003, but it was very hot and the MK was crowded.

Since joining DVC, we spent part of the week before at WDW, but went to VB for the actual weekend, and that was great. We've also did a 3 night DCL cruise over Memorial weekend '09 again staying in DVC before the cruise.

PS. In all of these cases, it was perfect swimming weather. Last year we did a RCCL 3 night cruise over Memorial weekend. We have nothing planned for this year.

I figure just getting away for a few days will be great even if the parks are packed...we can just enjoy the swimming and "other" stuff. Our dd finals in college are over earlier that week, so it would probably be just her, our ds 12 and myself going. Hubby is out of the country for 4 months. :sad1: Our older son 17 would probably SKIP that trip. LOL I already looked up points for studios and I am so used to booking 2 bedrooms that the studio points seem SO LOW everywhere. I am going to put a call into MS and see if there is availabity at any DVC resort for 5 days. :goodvibes If not SOG has rooms available and that is our backup and we enjoy that resort too.

I hope you find something. You had me tempted to go looking for something, but DH and I are going for 9 nights beginning June 10th, so I think I will have to wait.:goodvibes

I don' tknow how busy it is as we're going for the first time this year but at 11 mos we had issues booking the whole time we initially wanted; but everything is now squared away with a split stay between two resorts we were hoping for, with the views we wanted.

Good luck!

I bet I could find something at SSR or OKW.. well maybe. :confused3 I do know that SOG has rooms available so that is good.

We have been a few times over Memorial Day weekend, and though the parks are definitely more crowded that weekend than they are the week leading up to it, it's not too bad. It's usually Star Wars Weekends at DHS, so that park is definitely more crowded than the others, but it's nothing so bad at any of the parks that I ever remember saying :scared1:

Way better than Easter/Tnkg/Christmas.
Busier than Labor Day, and early Nov.
(I haven't been July 4th or MLK),

Went last yr going this yr. :) SW weekends are cute. They also make people fill up HS meaning MK, Epcot, Ak a little lighter. Based on some ADRs I recently changed, and able to get a CRT at 10:20 on 3 diff days, I bet this year will be light. Everything I wanted was available.
I would bet you get a DVC at OKW or SSR.

I checked out the Friday of Memorial Day weekend last year. We spent a few hours at MK in the late morning/early afternoon. All I can say it was a lot more crowded than earlier in the week. This year I'm checking in on Memorial Day, I suspect it will be crowded Monday and then the crowds will be lighter for the rest of the week. At least I hope so!

We've been in WDW during the last two Memorial Day weeks, and we were pleasantly surprised. The parks weren't that crowded, and the weather was beautiful. (In fact, I think our last two October trips have been more crowded and definitely hotter!) We would go to the parks in the morning, leave midday to swim or nap, then head back to the parks after dinner.

My only advice: Don't go to MK on Memorial Day. It can get a little bit crowded midday.

We've been several times over this holiday. Saturday and Sunday will be
the most crowded. Tuesday - Friday were very doable. Temps vary as
we've had pleasant temps one trip and record temps the other. Overall
crowds lower than spring break, Thanksgiving, and X-mas/New Years and
temps lower than July/August peak.

I called MS and there are studios available for the 25th thru the 31st. SO TEMPTED. I need to decide and fast. LOL I am on the fence because I also want to go in Oct. Decisions decisions.....

Why not do both? ::yes::

(I'm not helping, am I?)

We usually take trips in May and October, due to our school schedules. May is great, because most schools are still in session. Unfortunately, we're not planning to go this year. :sad1:

My aunt and uncle used to live in Dothan, and we used to visit them every year. I'm sure it's changed a lot since then.

The week of Memorial Day is our favorite time to visit. The weather isn't too hot and it isn't too crowded yet. Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone.:rotfl2:

We just closed on our first DVC contract this week and are hoping to stay over Memorial Day with some 2009 points that are going to expire. I hope we can get in!! It is also my DD's fourth birthday that weekend.

It can be crowded at times, but it is definately not unbearable if you plan correctly. Just watch out for DHS on SW Weekends.

We go this week every year.
