I was wondering how many dresses you tried on before you decided on "the one"?? I just started looking and have only tried on maybe 5 at one store, but I really love one that I tried on. However, I am nervous that maybe I should try on some more before I decide. The one that I like is on sale this week so that's why I am wondering if I should go ahead and get it. So, just out of curiousity how many did you try before you knew it was "the one"???

well im not getting married until march 08 and have tried on 3 and loved the third one.....dont think i am going to find one like it i just love it so much! my mum is saying i should look just incase i see another one and dont kick my self when iv bought it and see a better one (impossible! LoL)
but if its in the sale just now...how big a saving are you going to make? if its worth the saving maybe you should go for it....and if it feels like the one even better!

I never tried on a single one. I found the one I liked from an online, seamstress, bought it, and love it.

I tried on 5 or 6 and it was the first one I tried that I bought. I fell in love with a picture of one at a different store, but since I was reeeally liking the first one I tried on, I tried on a similular one to the one I thought I loved, and that was it, it looked terrible, and saved me a drive.

So I techniqually tried on 5 but LOVED the first one, and never went back on the decission. If you found the ONE, buy it. Especally if it's on sale.

I made an appointment at 2 bridal boutiques over 2 days, with the more expensive boutique on the second day. At the first boutique I brought pictures of dresses I saw in magazines and on-line that I liked and I showed some of them to my bridal consultant. She went around the shop and picked about 12 dresses and saved the one that she thought I would like the best for last! I put on my gown and stepped out of the dressing room. Mom saw it (this was one of our last days together  ) and she said "that's the one!" and then I realized I had cut out a picture of the dress, but it wasn't one that I showed my consultant! It was like she was psychic ;) Then mom said "but try on more dresses just to make sure." I tried on 25 dresses total but I knew it was THE ONE! It just felt right, mom said I was absolutely glowing in it. I never had a second thought. I canceled my appointment for the other boutique.

Enjoy shopping and happy planning!

Hey- well....I worked at a bridal shop and remember one girl who came in every day tried on everything we had several times and finally and I emphasize FIANLLY found one. The dress I bought was the first one I tried on and that does happen a lot in my exprience. I went to 4 shops and never found anything else, I was happy with that one and just felt like there was no sense in continuing the process and creating more drama for myself (I was afraid I would get confused). My advice, but the dress, but DO NOT I repeat DO NOT LOOK ANYMORE!!!! In my opinion you could drive yourself crazy looking for a gown, so if it looks good and you love it get it, no one else will know what else was out there!!! I also think that you just kind og "know" it is the one!

Oh gosh, I must have tried on about 10, but when I tried on the 11th one, I knew I had to get it! :) It was just too perfect!

I only shopped at one bridal salon. I tried on about 6 dresses that day, and I knew "the one" when I saw it. I always thought I would agonize over the decision and try on everything under the sun. I loved it so much, and I have no regrets. I can't wait until it is delivered to the store on April 25th. I am a little nervous about cutting it so close. I will definitely need it taken in. I had to buy 2 sizes too big b/c my hips are wide. Good luck! =)

hfehr1s,
I tried on 7 or 8 different dresses and the one I picked was probably 3rd or 4th. You will know when it is the right one, you can't stop thinking about it and you compare the other ones to that one and you keep wanting to go back and try that one again. My family and friends thought I should keep looking to make sure but I knew in my heart that it was the one.
Don't worry you will know.
Good Luck!

I brought pictures of 6 dresses and tried them all on. I didn't love any of them and my younger sister told the woman to have me try on one with a train and I fell in love with it immediately. I didn't like it in the picture, but I bought the dress because I felt and looked like a princess in it. Good luck and contratulations!!! Enjoy everything about the planning, even when it seems like its too much.

I did a TON of looking online for gowns I liked...I had seen one years ago that I loved loved and I called the salon and asked her about the gown...she ordered it for her trunk show and it was the very first one I tried on...and I did love it...but it was VERY princessy and foofy, which I thought I wanted...but I tried on like...12 more gowns, my sister picked out some and my mom picked out a few...there was one that was there for next fall's line on accident. My sister thought it was pretty and wanted me to try it on so I did...and when I looked in the mirror I saw my DF's face...I saw him smiling at me and just started crying and I knew it was the dress. (I get teary just thinking about it!) :lovestruc

I also went with the mind set "I am buying my gown today". After I bought my dress I stopped looking at dresses. I didn't want to be disloyal to my dress! ;) And I didn't feel the need to look anymore cuz I knew I found the dress to go along with my soulmate...and honestly...I could wear a potato sack and I'd still be married at the end of the day to the most amazing man I've every met. I'm a nerd I know!

I only went to one salon, Mom and I looked at a lot of dresses before I put one on. The 3rd dress I tried on was the one. I put a few more on after that but I just knew it was the one. I had a much harder time finding the right headpiece to wear with my veil.

I tried on about 6 or 7 but in the end it was the first one i loved! i knew it from the start really!

Well, I'm the odd one out... I tried on probably 50 gowns. I fell head over heels in love with a couture gown that was out of my price range. My mum kept insisting we could find a way to afford it, but there was no way I was spending that much on a dress I could only wear once. So I tried on many, many other dresses hoping one would make me feel the way the couture gown did.

When I kept not finding anything I finally got creative and called the five stores in Canada who carried the designer to ask if any of them would be willing to sell their samples. And found one that was willing to see theirs for less then 1/2 price! So I got my dream dress after all!

I tried on maybe 15 dresses at two different bridal shops. But I pretty much knew when I pulled it off the rack it was going to be "my dress". If you put it on and you tear up knowing this is how you want to look on your wedding day, then that is the dress! Sometimes it takes a little work to get it at an affordable price but it can be done. I got my little sisters dress for almost half of what the expensive detroit area bridal shop wanted over the internet! We had a local seamstress do the measuring for ordering and final fittings for her but it was wonderful at quite a savings!

Mandy, my moh, and I walked into the store and I went straight for this pink dress and Mandy was like "Nooo you can't have a pink wedding dress" so I was sort of laughing but inside thinking well why can't I. Then we had me try on about 12 dresses all were OK nothing special then I tried on a lilac one which was really pretty and I joked with the shop assistant and asked if it came in the blush pink like the one over there and she said it did. I was wondering if the color would suit me so she said well why don't you try on the blush pink dress and so I did and then Mandy and I just looked at each other and went "this is the one!" I said "see you should have let me try this one on in the first place" - so yup the first one can sometimes be the right one :teeth:

I tried on 15 or so, but bought it the only day I really went shopping. When I got to David's, they said to show them 3 or so in the catalog that I liked, and they'd pull those and others they thought I'd like. Well, they pulled the one with the red trim (one I'd requested). It was ok. A few others (like Codie's dress!), but I realized that one of the main ones I'd liked I hadn't seen yet. I kept asking as they brought more, and finally somebody went and got it. It was exactly what I had wanted. Since my arms are long, most of the strapless ones looked funny since the waists were higher. THE dress had a basque waist, making my arms a little more normal. It was starting to get a little frustrating because I had tried on one that looked ok and everybody liked, but I wanted to see that one dress before I decided.

I tried on maybe 8 dresses total over a period of a couple of days. At first I tried on traditional long gowns, and I found a couple I liked, but they weren't jumping out in my mind as "the one". Then my fiance decided he was going to wear a linen suit instead of a tux, so a long gown was a little too formal. I went back to David's and tried on all their short gowns and as soon as I put the last one one, I knew it was what I was going to wear on my wedding day. I really love my dress and I can't wait to walk down the isle in it. It's funny, if my fiance hadn't decided on a casual wedding, I wonder if I ever would have found a gown I absolutely loved.

I tried on about 5.
The one I liked best was the last one. I tried it on in a shop and then found it new on ebay half the price. Just a sight alteration was needed.
But then I kept looking and saw another. I bought it from the US (I live in England), just to compare. Though it finally arrived 3 days before I was due to fly out, so I never used it, and stuck to my first gown.
When we came home I just had to try it on, and Damian said wow that's nice, why didn't you wear that one instead?? arrgghh!!!!
The gown I wore is in the picture below, but the second one was a huge cinderella style ballgown. As much as I loved the second one, I am glad I stuck with my 'first choice'.
Best thing to do is buy the one that your heart falls in love with, and ignore whatever your head tells you to do after that!

I was quite laid back when it came to buying my dress; everyone was nagging me to go shopping for wedding dresses. I tried leaving it to the last minute because I knew as soon as I tried one on, that would be it and I was right; every since i have been like a bottle of pop (I still have 6 months to go)! I went to a bridal fayre and had no intention of trying on any dresses - hadn’t shaved my legs, no pedicure! All of that didn’t matter when I spotted this dress, as soon as I had seen it, it was love  I tried it on and my aunty and mum shed a few tears. I went back to the shop a few days later and tried on about 5 or 6 but I knew what felt right.
