DH and I keep trying to make a trip out to DL but can never seem to agree. I am trying to convince him to go for an April or May trip.

Is 3 days enough to see everything if we take a break back at the hotel each afternoon? Day 1 would be an arrival day but hopefully we will be coming from somewhere in the area so I think we could get there fairly early.

In May it looks like we would have to contend with either Grad Nights or a weekend. Is one better than the other in terms of crowds? We can't go earlier in May then when Grad Nights start. Would we be better to look at the end of April?

3 day would be good considering if your hotel is close. Weekends can be 'busy' from what I understand.

I agree with 3 days. 1 day per park, then the last day can be used for anything you missed or want to see again.

I personally like to stay away from Grad Nights, mainly because one park will close earlier than it normally can. Also, I think Grad Night guests are allowed to enter the parks earlier than the actual start of Grad Night, so this makes it more busy in the Parks.

3 days is better than none :) Its def not enough to see EVERYTHING we like 5 days w breaks in the afternoon and still miss a lot but thats just me and with 3 days its always an excuse to come back!

We are staying in July 2016 from the 6th to the 12th, staying at DLH. I figured 1st day we get in about 2 pm (our plane arrives at LAX at 12 noon, we will have a private van waiting), so we settle in, and check-in at 3pm, settle in and get back to parks late afternoon or early evening, last day we leave at 12 noon, so nothing but last minute shopping at DTD. So I figure we have 5 good days for parks and some intermitten breaks at hotel. I'll be in an ECV and we will have my DGS who is 5 and autistic so we figured we do a lot of breaks. He loves the pools. So is 5 days too much? Is this a sound plan?

i dont think there is such thing as to much lol we do 5 full days with afternoon breaks but we get there at opening we dont do partial arrival/ leaving days

I think 3 days is tight and I would recommend 4 days. Especially if you take daily breaks. The very end of April is often a very nice time. We go every year at that time and it is usually very nice. About two or 3 years ago it was 103 degrees with Santa Ana winds at the end of April but that is not the norm. Disneyland is always crowded but its usually not horribly crowded during that time.

With breaks in the afternoon you will want to do 5 days to see most of the parks. Your best bet is to get 5 day hoppers so you can be flexible. The park entrances face each other and less than a minute walk from one to the other. 3 days will allow you to hit the highlights (if not too crowded) but you really need more time to take everything in.

3 days is bare minimum for us. 5 is just right for our family. Oh and I never count travel days.
