We are heading to Orlando in a few days, how many days should it take to see the attractions at Universal Studios? We have 4 kids going with us, so they will want to see the Nick Studios, which I am sure will eat up some time, with the parks closing early this time of year, will we need 2 days at Universal?

Yes at least. I split U even with Disney, about 4 and 4, but 2 will cover most of your bases, if you could squeak out a 3rd day I would recommend it. I would also recommend staying on site for the hotels and the experience is just so much better that way. Plus your room key allows you front of the line access to all rides, so no waiting. You'll have a great time, I actually prefer U over Dis. The Islands of Adventure park at U is probably the best park in the world.

Just a heads up: Nick studios is closed but there are plenty of Nick characters in the park and also a Jimmy Neutron ride.

DH and I just returned from our trip without kids to Universal and if the crowd level is the same as when we were there, if you hit Universal on two weekdays, you should have no problem at all covering both parks in two days.

We arrived Thursday afternoon 9/28 at approximately 4:30 p.m., went to IOA and encountered NO lines for anything at all. We walked on Hulk (twice), Spiderman, DD (both tracks), Jur. Park, and were sitting at a table having our first drink at Margaritaville by 6:40.

On Friday 9/29, we got to US at park opening and walked on ET, MIB, Jaws, Shrek, Earthquake, Back to the Future (now closed) and Mummy and were having lunch at Finnegan's at 11:20. We hit Twister after lunch and returned to MIB and rode three more times before leaving for the day around 2:00. The lines started to get heavier after lunch, but the lines were never more than 30 minutes.

On Saturday 9/30, we got to IOA at park opening (9:00) and walked on Hulk, Spiderman, and Jur. Park. We left and went back to US at 10:00 where DH wanted to ride MIB several (4) more times and the Mummy again. We had lunch again at Finnegans and were in our room having a nap by 1:00.

We did not notice any crowds until the evenings when we went to HHN and the place was packed then.

Hope this helps.

nick studios is closed?

I wouldn't worry about it, in my opinion that was way at the bottom of my 2-do list, I just like the other attractions a lot better. As long as the characters are still around for the kids I wouldn't worry about it. My opinon heres some better attractions to check out at the old park: The Mummy, Men In Black, Twister, Jaws, ET, Shrek, Terminator

At IOA: Spider Man, the Hulk, Jurassic Park Boat Ride, Dueling Dragons.

Just for starters.

Are you planning on both US and IOA? I would allow 3 days to do both since you've never been.
What ages are the kids?

BTW... Nick studios has been closed for a while now. At least 2 yrs I would say. Prior to that they had scaled way back. They closed the tour and only had the game thing that use to be at the end of the tour.

We just got back and spent 5 days at UO & IOA and I wish we would of had more days..... The crowds were very low...the most we waited for anything was 10-15 minutes.
