How many carbs does Atkins and WW...

Induction for Atkins allows up to 20 per day from healthy veggies.

HERE is a Beginners Guide to Low Carbing --- which includes the rules of Induction (first two weeks).
:D

WW doesn't limit the number of carbs you can have. You do have to use a certain number of your daily points on fruit and/or veggies, protein & milk but as far as I know the rest of your points can be used for whatever you want.

Why does Atkins allow only 3 cups of salad a day? I am a big salad eater (could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner), so 3 cups would be very hard for me.
I know WW allows you as much salad as you want, so I am curious about the difference of opinions.
From what I am finding out about the two, my eating habits are a combination of the two programs. So, I guess I need to increase my exercise per day. I am doing the Pilates 20 minute work out, and my goal is to move to the next level by next Fri. I think all I really need to lose is 15 pounds, my weight has been fluctuating between 125 and 127.

Atkins only limits the amount of salad, and other low-carb, low-glycemic veggies, for the first 2 weeks.

If you're going to follow Atkins, Induction (the first 2 week period) is important, as you're abruptly changing your diet, and your fuel source... Atkins describes it as you're going from a diet that tilts heavily to carbs and sugar, to a healthy diet... so you have to drastically tilt your diet the other way... almost no carbs... to rebalance yourself for your new lifestyle diet.

After that, as long as you're watching your carbs, you can certainly eat more salad, and more "allowed" veggies.

I think I am going to write everything I eat down. I really don't think I am eating many carbs to begin with, and I don't think I eat too much sugar stuff either. Then after a week of eating the way I always do I'll look and see where I need to make changes.

That's an Excellent Idea- Muscle&Fitness-Hers has an article about keeping a food diary this month. I haven't read it yet, but the headline says something like you can't know what to adjust if you don't know what you've eaten.

Good luck!

Now there are two people talking about how great Muscle & Fitness Hers is! I guess I need to look into getting a subscription! I currently get SELF but it isn't quite enough info for me. :)

If you are looking for info on weight training Terry, MF-hers is a great resource. The current issue has a beginner's guide to the weight room, which looks great (again I've only been skimming so far, haven't gotten a chance to read it) One word of warning though- <font=9>Ignore their advertisers!!!!</font> I have know idea why a magazine that publishes such great articles with advice from Top Fitness Experts insists on taking money from and promoting way too many (IMO) charlatans who tout "Lose all the weight you want, by tomorrow!" and other products that are pretty controversial over whether they are safe.

Okay I'll get down now, enjoy the magazine!;) :)

I agree with Annie. I love the magazine for the articles (and the pictures of the "body I could have if I keep working" don't hurt either!) However, the ads totally annoy me!! Every other page seems like the start of a 4-page ad for Hydroxycut or Xenadrine.

The articles are great though! And there are always some great inspirational stories to read!!! :) Hopefully the magazine will expand and not have so much "filler" in the future.
