We are a family of 6 and have been WDW before, but never during the summer. I want to make sure we stay hydrated, but don't want to lug around too many bottles of water. We will take a mid-afternoon break from the parks so we can re-hydrate once back at the resort. But should I just take one bottle per person and then re-fill at water fountains and add crystal light packets?? We will have a stroller, but carrying alot from the bus stop to the park can still be alot. ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated! pirate:

I dont drink out the fountains. To me Walt Disney World water is not so thrilling - so I always end up buying water there. It does cost 2 dollars a bottle and the cost does add up but thats the way I do it. I also bought a strap from Animal Kingdom [they sell them at all parks] that holds the water bottle for you, it comes in handy.

hi--we just got back from Disney (July 5-10) and the first day, I made everyone take their own bottle of water(there are 5 of us) and refill it throughout the day. By the end of the week, we walked in with two bottles to share and every opportunity we got, we drank out of the fountains and refilled our bottles. It just got too heavy and too much stuff to lug around in the Florida heat. At some point, if you're thirsty, you will drink the water. We also asked for bottled water to drink with all of our meals. HTH

We had 4 of us and we took 2 BRITA water filter bottles. We filled them up at water fountains when the got too warm. Also when we ordered counter service we always got 4 free large cups of ice water. We'd mix in our Kool-Aid singles after we sat down and sometimes if we didn't mix up all 4 cups we'd dump the water into our water bottle. Have fun!

Hi Luvchip~I also used the tip I read on these boards about free ice water at counter services in disney. I usually always need a diet coke, but I would always ask for another 2 large cups of ice water and it was never a problem. I never had room for extra bottles of water...and I like mine icy cold. Good luck and have fun. ;)

This always worked really well, and it kept us from having to leave the parks for rehydrations and snacks (more time in the park=more time on the rides :thumbsup2 ).
At night we would store water bottles/soda cans in a fridge/cooler/ice bucket. The next morning we would pack a small (just three of us) soft sided cooler with the water/soda and snacks. We even took ham, cheese, and crackers a few times. When we arrive at the park we'll get a locker (can't remember the cost, but it was worth it.). We would plan to head near the locker just before noon. We'd have a snack/lunch, something to drink, and a rest. We found that it saves money, time, and you don't have to lug a bunch of bottles all over the park.

On my trip I noticed families carrying large coolers around. I would never be able to do such a thing, but I guess its an option?

When we go, we usually take a Nalgene water bottle for our family of four and then refill the bottle with water as needed from an 80oz. Platypus collapsable water bottle that we store in the basket of our stroller:

It works great! We don't have to bring a bunch of small water bottles with us or have to lug around a huge bottle because the Platypus is collapsable, lightweight and yet strong enough to hold a lot of water. Every morning before we head out to the parks, we refill the Platypus water bottle from a huge jug of water we buy from the grocery store.

HTH!

WE're going to do a little of both. We will each take a bottle of water in the a.m. (we'll freeze them in the hotel so they are nice and cold) then refill as needed from water fountains and use the packets (we like the Country Time lemonade, walmart brand and Kool Aid brand). We will also get the free ice water whenever we get something to eat or snack on. We're going in Sept. and from what I've heard the heat and humidity will be brutal then so we will be eating lots of fruit/ veggies, smoothies and drinking lots of water..

Does anyone know if those water bottle holder things work on the 16.9 oz bottles or are they one size fits all bottles?? Those may come in handy especially for the kids since we are stroller free this year !

I bought water bottle carriers at Wal-Mart for each family member. In the morning when we left for the park, we took 1 bottle each, with everyone carrying his own bottle. When the bottles were empty, we refilled them at fountains.

On our afternoon break back at our hotel room, we threw away the morning bottles and replaced them with fresh bottles when we returned to the park. Again, everyone carried his own bottle and refilled it as needed throughout the evening.

We went through 2 water bottles each per day with this system.

The lanyards work on various sizes of bottles and other things. My DDs use them to tote Pal Mickey around!

We have tried many different ways to have water available to us in the park. We now take 2 bottles for 4 people in the morning. When they are gone we buy a COLD bottle of water and share(unless someone has a cold and then they get their own). We have learned that everyone drinks a lot more when the water is cold. I don't know how many times we have carried water no one drank because it had gotten too warm. I would rather spend a little more and have the cold water available and not have to carry a bunch of things.

My family has found that in the heat we carry as little as possible and only want very cold things to drink. This works well for us.

jme829 I remember going in September and the heat and humidity were crazy :sunny: ! We found that those little mist bottles work really well though. They were pretty much just a spray bottle with a fan attached to it (about $10 at local pharmacy/store). We all took turns carrying it around and spraying others at their request. It feels awesome when you standing in line sweating. :thumbsup2

i also went in sept and it was hot i mean hotter than your hotest day...we bring one bottle water then fill up with free ice water...load that with crystal light or koolaid drop inn.. mind you the water in fl is nasty :scared: it takes my family 2 drop inns to rid the taste :teacher:

We carry 1 insulted water bottled, on a strap, for each 2 people.

We filled it up before heading to the parks, and fill it with WDW water (I'm not crazy for their fountain water, but I can deal with it), as needed.

We will be carrying the SUS type packs for flavoring this year though.

Thanks for that link! I'm going to get a couple of those. I usually drink 80-100 ounces of water per day, so that will come in handy. I'll buy some gallons of water to have at the hotel, and then I can refill the bottle throughout the day.

I too just came back from disney, First week of July. It does get very hot and we went through lots of water. I brought a soft sided cooler on wheels, which was very helpful. The only parks that gave us a hard time entering (but not in the park) were AK and Epcot. We did get a stroller for my 4 yr old and put it in there when he wasn't. We usually took 2 bottles per person, me and my husband bought water when we ran out (ok for the kids). At first we thought we go back to the room in between but didn't always do this. Also used water misters alot!

I agree with Bev. Dont buy bottled water and carry it around. It's expensive and heavy!! Get each family member a water filter bottle.

Pure Water 2GO has a filter built into the bottle. You just fill it up in any water fountain, it filters the water for you.

I just got my purewater2go bottles and I love them! I ordered the family pack of the 27oz sport bottles and a few extra filters. They are very handy, I definitely recommend them for everybody. You can just throw them in a bag or carry them anywhere. Just refill wherever you are.
