How many are canceling trips due to the economoy!?!

i would like to see this question answered by non-DVC owners. We as DVC owners are much less likely to change our WDW than others. We may change visiting habits but too soon to tell right now. We may go for one longer trip instead of multiple shorter trips, but right now it is more of a wait and see.

I already have my airline tickets for my January trip & the room is booked on DVC points. So, I'll still be going, but might not be able to spend as much as I usually do while I am there. We also just booked a trip for August 2009. DH's job is kind of "iffy" right now, so we will just have to wait and see what happens. We are planning to drive in August for the first time instead of flying.

We're still going, for the reasons many have already cited. We have AP's, we live only 4 hours away, and we have DVC.

If anything, we may make two trips next year instead of the one we had planned. We were going to take a second trip somewhere else, but we might just go back to WDW instead.

OTOH, the economic situation has not affected us much other than some of our investments. So we might find very attractive deals elsewhere next year that would cause us to stick with our original plan of one WDW trip and one trip out west. We'll just have to see how things look in a few months.

But you are on a DVC thread. See this thread:

Maybe I am crazy. We have three trips (almost) planned in 2009 d/t our incentive points. The flight with jetblue was $1400 r/t for only three of us d/t it being Feb. Vacation. June I can't book the flight yet and December 2009 flight is going to be through the roof - oh well. Not that everyone's job isn't stressful but the way I get through my stress is to think "This shift is for Disney". I especially need it now. I will get APs for the boys and I and probably get the DP d/t the way that my boys eat it is cheaper for us. My boys love to go to restaurants like Calif. Grill, etc.

I am grateful that my job is okay and I hope those who have lost their jobs find new ones soon.

Just got back in Sept from AKL, bought AKV, going to SSR for a week in Jan 09 and AKV for 10 days again Sep 09 :)

We're going (2/09), but made some concessions.. We are going to drive instead purchasing air fare for four (we will be driving down with a 5, 3 and 3 month old, so this is no small feat!) and we will have many meals in the room.

The meal thing doesn't really count though...The kids really don't enjoy long table service meals anyway, so we decided to wait until they are older anyway.

We are buying AP's with the idea we can fly on miles and go back fall 09, but we'll see. Economy truly frightens me... but once we have the AP's what's to really stop us from that 2nd trip? And after the DVC discount, are we really spending that much more than a 7 day park hopper anyway?

Going to be there in just 7 short days. :dance3: Had the airfare purchased in March. Eating in our 1 bedroom for the most part ... except for Food & Wine Fest stuff. Groceries ordered for a few days and rental car for a week is the only other expenses we have as we are still using our AP from last December. If you plan right, then even with a slow economy, it is doable. :cheer2:
