How many groups/people they typically book on the Port Adventure excursions?

We are booked on the Tour to Virgin Gorda in Tortola and Castaway Catamaran Sail & Snorkel to Shipwreck Cove in St. Thomas.

Are these typically crowded?

It depends on the port adventure, but they usually have plenty of people. The more expensive and specialized your port adventure is, typically, the fewer people. I now usually book excursions independently, because the port adventure experience usually felt like a cattle call. They aren't run by DCL employees, so it's not like you're getting the Disney difference on the port adventure. They also tend to be very slow to get going & to get back, because you have to wait for everyone, etc. The only time I book a DCL port adventure now is if there might be a timing issue with reboarding the ship that I don't want to worry about, like the time we went to Chichen Itza from Cozumel.

2 experiences:
We were on a Chocolate Factory Tour in Nassau - there were about 12-15 people. I'm sure they keep it limited because there isn't a lot of space at the factory.
Second, I called a tour company in Juneau for Alaska this week - and we can only book this excursion through Disney - but he said they usually send out groups every hour or so all morning in order to keep the groupings small.
