How loud is loud?

When a restaurant is rated as loud, how loud is that? We ate out last night at a place I would rate as loud, four of us sitting at a booth could barely hold a conversation across the table.

Which restaurant are you asking about?

Any of them, I'm just asking about what exactly rates "loud." Not any specific restaurant.

I dont think any Disney restaurants are so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation.

Now the Buffalo Wild Wings in Crossroads? THATS LOUD!

Hmm really? So all that character interaction and preschoolers running around, and it's still possible to hold a conversation? That is wonderful news.

I won't go back to a restaurant if it is loud, no matter how much I like the food. I LOATH loud restaurants. I'm not talking about entertainment-type places (like WCC), but just those places that make me squint!

Some loud places at WDW - Boma, Planet Hollywood, CS place in the Land Pavilion (yikes), Pizza Planet, Chef Mickey's, Chef Mickey's, Chef Mickey's.

Of course, you may be up for some of these places, and then you could consider them fun, but sometimes I just need a break.

Disney restaurants have a lot of background noise. But it is not loud music like many restaurant chains have. I have been to some where we can barely hear the server. Off hand I don't recall having that issue at WDW restaurants.
I would agree Planet Hollywood is probably the worse. RFC is right up there too. Loud WDW restaurants that come to mind are Chefs de France, and many character buffets. But even those are nothing like PH or RFC.

2 places I consider loud are Chefs de France and Ca Grill. Both have a lot of glass windows so noise echoes in there. Add that to the fact that both of these places are always packed with people and we find we cannot hear the diners at our own table.

Yup, that's exactly what I'd call "loud". And some places I've found loud are R&C at dinner and Teppenyaki. Ironically, I've only been to Chefs de France at lunchtime and I haven't found it loud at all. That's something I've found-many resturants are loud at dinner time, but quiet at lunch. Except for a couple character meals (which you don't expect to be quiet), everyplace else (TS) has been relatively quiet at lunch.

Chef Mickey's is loud. You can carry on a conversation, but you may have to raise your voice.

Cosmic Ray's can get loud.

Le Cellier is not loud.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is not loud.

Ohana can get loud depending on where you sit.

Ohana was the loudest restaurant for us. We gave up trying to carry on a converstation. My head was throbbing when we left. Hollywood & Vine was pretty loud, too, but not as bad as Ohana. Most Disney restaurants tend to be full of noise and commotion. Liberty Tree Tavern at lunch was the least noisy. It was actually very pleasant.

planet hollywood is loud...can't hold a quality conversation at that place. if you have screaming kids, you will not disturb a sole here!!!

Planet Hollywood--so loud~! I will never go back.

CA Grill is loud too, but somehow not as painful for me as PH.

Ate at 1900 Park Faire last year, breakfast, it was so loud in there that the waitress had to ask me 3 times what I wanted to drink. DH and I could not hear each other so we motioned with our hands....it was insane.

I know people say Chef Mickeys is very loud but we did not think it was anywhere near as loud as 1900

I think it can varry a lot depending on the night. WCC is over the top loud and I do not care for it at all. We found Le Cellier VERY loud the night we were there but still loved it.

Most Character meals are loud but we found LTT at the MK the quitest of the lot. Cheif mickey was really loud

Huh, what did you say? I can't hear you. :lmao: Sorry I just could not resist. :guilty:

Loud at Chef Mickey's is part of the theme: monorail, windowed ceiling, bright colors, music napkin waving, 5 characters. Its supposed to be loud in sight, sound and feel. Its a high energy kind of place.

Of all the restaurants we have eaten at at WDW, there is only 1 that was so loud that it really bothered me...that was inside at Wolfgang Puck cafe. But the food was SOOOOOO good that we decided to give Wolfgang another try. This time we ate outside and that was MUCH better. The food was every bit as good as I remembered. If you're only the dining plan, Wolfgang is a great deal. If you're paying out of pocket, it can be a bit pricey. But, again, in my opinion, worth every penny.
