How long does the process take before someone gets back to an applicant who applied for the Professional Intern Program (not the College Program)?

My son applied for a Computer Science Intern position for Summer 2016 in late December and has heard nothing as yet. Thought he would have heard something one way or another by now.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

The internships run on their own timeline. It took a month for the initial communication for mine, and a total of 4 months to complete the process.

There were several that I applied to that I never heard from, positive or otherwise.

Did he just apply for the one? Has he looked at the Fall positions for something similar?
One thing to remember with the internships is that many teams only have 1 slot available, and someone can be an intern for a year. Even if the current intern plans on extending, the position still has to be posted. It's very possible that the current intern extended and he wouldn't know until very close to the start date since HR can put off the official extension for a while, if they update it in the system at all

Just the one so far. I spotted another that just got posted and a forwarded it to him but he said that he did not think he was qualified. He is under the assumption if the match is not perfect he wont apply. I think on the progress bar that he sees it just says in progress. Been that way for about two months. My guess is that they don't have the time to let people know they are being turned down. Too busy raising prices.

If he made it to in progress, then that's a good sign. It's better than being stuck in submission.
But the system will automatically send out rejections when the position is marked as filled, and HR probably won't do that until April based on my experience with extending.

Not that my word carries much weight, but I would suggest he apply to positions even if he isn't 100% qualified. I know it's hard, and it took me awhile to get past that roadblock, but do remember that it is an internship program - the point is to learn.

I ended up applying for 8 different positions and I got the one that I was least qualified for - and next week I start back as a full-time cast member with that same team.

The worth that can happen is that he gets an NLIC - but on the other end he could end up with an amazing job to start his career with

Thanks. I passed your message above to him. Just don't know if he will take the step and apply to the new job. Does not like me giving him advice. Finding an internship is much harder than I expected for him, especially in CS.

Best of luck to him!

I studied marketing, and my coworker, who was also an intern a few years ago, was computer science. Disney has a ton of technology intern positions floating around covering a little bit of everything, so if he has time he should keep looking for sure.
