How long would you stay?

We take a family WDW trip every February. In December 2019, I graduate from grad school. I was thinking of skipping the WDW trip and go to Hawaii after graduation as a present to myself.

I know there is a lot of time between now and grad school graduation. I live in PA so going to Hawaii would be a real treat especially in the cold winter months.

My question is- how long would you stay? Since I'm coming from across the US, what is a good length of time to stay in Hawaii.

Thanks!

Simply, as long as you can. But really it's all about you and what you like in a vacation. I know plenty of people who find 5-7 days of a given vacation to be enough for them. Personally for us we always like to go as long as possible. We've done trips to Aulani of 21, 14 and 16 nights....and we would've stayed longer each time if we could have lol we also were traveling from the east coast, so we always kinda felt that for that flight were gonna stay as long as we can and make it worth it. Our big WDW trip every year (unless we do Aulani) is always 2+ weeks as well, so we just enjoy longer vacations. We'd go even longer if we didn't do some other shorter trips throughout the year also lol

Thanks for all of your input! Depending on funds and how much time I can get off work, I might stop by Disneyland as well because I've never been! And maybe meet the family in WDW for the annual trip.
Let the planning (and saving!) begin!

We did 16 days in Hawaii for our honeymoon because it was a special trip for us. We did 3 islands. If/when we go again, we'd probably do 10 days and 1-2 islands. Disneyland/Southern California will be it's own trip for us. For us, it added to the cost and we wanted to maximize our time in Hawaii so we just wanted to get there and stay as long as possible.

Indefinitely as long as I have a car. Can't imagine being there without a vehicle.

just did 6 days at aulani (long enough) and 2 weeks on Kauai (also basically long enough, although I didn't get around to 1 or 2 activities). Kauai basically consisted of time with the kids at the beach and pool with a road trip every few days.

I'd say a minimum of 1 day per hour of flight to get you there :)

I'd love to read a TR, or at least a list of things you did on Kauai. I'd really like to spend more than 2 days there on my next trip, but not sure how long. It's so small that I don't want to keep repeating things, but sooooo beautiful.......
