I am so cross DS needs yet another new prescription (his 5th in just over 18 months) and he had his eye's tested by our Optician 3 weeks ago ~ he is a real darling, and explains everything to the boys, what he is doing and why he is doing it! Now against my better judgement I went into the dispensing opticians attached to his practice (we actually have an optical factory in Barking and you can just take your prescription in there and your glasses are ready in at most 3 days and alot cheaper than the opticians). Well as we get them free thought that it would be easier to just walk next door, we ordered him the same frames as he did not like any of the others and decided that he could have transition lenses as he has 3 hols to the sun this year and can't wear sunglasses or clip ons. So off we go and wait 2 weeks before a message is left to say they are ready, so we go to the opticians arriving 10 mins before they shut and she was just leaving and would not go back in to fit them, so back we go the next day and they are fitted to him, so I gets out my cheque book to pay - ' no she says ~ they are free' but we ordered transitions ~ guess what she had not ordered them! don't worry she said I'll have them back in a couple of days ~ a week later and we are still waiting!

I rang her just now ~ well her manner left alot to be desired, telling me that there had been weekends (don't we have one of them once a week!!!!) don't worry she said I'll have them back before DS goes away ~ I should hope she does he doesn't go until the 12th!!! I basically put the phone down before I said anything I regretted> Do you think I am wrong to expect they should be back by now!

SORRY FOR THE RANT :goodvibes

You rant away Claire, it must be so frustrating

My DH wears glasses and he usually picks his glasses up the same day that he's had his eyes tested. Last year he decided he wanted some posh designer sunglasses made and I think they took 10 days to be ready

I hope your son gets his transition lenses in time for his hols

:sad2: Personally I think 2 weeks is long enough to get those spectacles to you even with transitions!! I have a strong prescription and even mine don't take longer than that even with anti-glare or scratch resistant lenses so you rant away!! I admire your calmness, I would have ripped a strip off her for her unprofessional attitude, especially when it's a child's glasses involved :sad2: If there was an expected delay she should have told you before you agreed to use the service, Good Luck :grouphug:

Usually they are ready the next day. I hope you get them soon :)

You rant away. :furious: I always find our glasses are ready by the next day (if not the same day) and DH who has transition lenses has never waited more than about three working days.
Hope they're ready in time for your hols. :)

Hope you get it sorted out quickly.
