How long to Park Hop?

I am just curious how long it will take to park hop.

We are going with friends and they made some of ADR's, and the made a buffet at like 4:40 and we were planning on doing the sci fi dinner that lunch. Now I just want to do a counter service so we don't get soo full at the sci fi place. So another day we are at Magic Kingdom and they arn't any dinning places that we want to make, so how much of a hassel is it to park hop to go to dinner and then park hop back so we can make it to the fireworks at Magic Kingdom that night?

Am I making sense?

We are AP'ers and hop all the time, mostly just for meals but we usually stop off at our resort for a rest and dip. Its only about a 20 minute from most parks back to our resort, we stay on the monorail loop or at WL and less from the MK. Even changing clothes mid day and throw in a pool dip to cool off and rest the feet and legs. We're not rope drop people, we stay 8-12 nights, and can see everything at a leisurely pace since we've been to WDW over 35 times. We enjoy the ammenities of our resort, take shopping breaks mid day and chose resturants in our visiting areas to cut down on needless travel, we'll see it all, and do it all during our stay.

We like to do one park in the am, resort in the heat of the day and return to another park for the evening, this makes our dining plans much easier. We seldom have ADR's and tend to eat quick meals except for a couple of favorite sit down places and of course the HDDR.

We don't park hop for the sake of it. Park hopping allows us to spend fractional days at parks. So if we're spending five days at four parks, we don't have to do 2-1-1-1 but rather can do 2-1.5-1-0.5 if we wish. Also, park hopping allows us to have someplace to go in the evening, after the park we visited during the day closes. This is especially useful on the day we visit AK, which closes at 5PM during the part of the year we typically visit. With park hopping, we can go from AK to Epcot for the evening.

I wouldn't park hop back and forth though -- that's a lot of time wasted in transit, IMHO.

I've got to agree with Bicker. We don't use the park hopper feature (actually we have AP's, but its the same thing) to specifically do more than one park in a day. Instead we go to a park in the morning, take a break in the early afternoon for a nap or pool, and then head to a park (typically Epcot) for the evening.
