How long should I plan for packet pickup?

This will be my first Disney run. I'm flying in on January 10th for the 5K on the 11th. Our plane gets in around 9-9:30 AM and I'm hoping to get to the packet pick-up at DWWoS complex around 11ish.

How long should I plan to be there for packet pick-up at that time? Should I expect long lines, or does everything move quickly since it's open all day?

Thanks for your help!

There will most likely not be too long of a wait right at 11:00 on Thursday, at least I don't remember a long wait when I went around that time 2 years ago and the 5K lines are typically pretty short. You will need to go next door to the expo to get your t-shirt and packet after you get your bib, they are in two different buildings. The expo is fun to walk around and check out - that can take more or less time depending on what you are interested in. I would allocate at least an hour, more if you want to check out the expo and some of the speakers.

I know this is probably going to sound dumb but...

Is there direct transportation from Disney resorts to WOWS Expo? We are staying at BWV.

Thanks!

I'm sure it will be the same as last year- they had buses that went to the expo out in front of the resort.

Okay, Great- thank you!

Sorry to crash this thread with a seemingly irrelevant question, I was just wondering how much time needed to be set aside for travel to-and-from the expo, so i thought it sort of related.

Filling in the Expo transport and timing questions....

If one drives to the expo, plan on parking in the overflow parking unless you hit a really dead time. Busing, while kind of a pain, does drop you next to the complex. It runs fairly regular so expect a bus every 20 min or so. Buses do serve all resorts on property, including the swan and dolphin

I would allow an hour to clear the expo with little time in that hour for shopping the expo.

Breakdown once arrived…
15 minutes from transportation to the middle of the HP Hall.
10 minute to grab your bib
20 minutes to walk over to Josten’s and pick up the remainder of the packet. Like a great retailer, Disney puts what you need in the very back of the building. There is a straight shot into the race shirt area, but not one back out. You have to mill through the official merchandise area as well as one isle of the expo.
15 minutes back out to transportation.
This assumes no more than the expo being busy, but not at a time when lines are out the door. Hitting the expo around 11 through 4 will be at a timer with lower impact.

YES. Keep in mind that the bus stop will not be where the park buses are...I think it will be near the convention area of the resort.

Keep an eye out for signs like this one:

Awesome! Thanks for the tip (and the photo, that really helps)! :thumbsup2

You're welcome!

You know, now that I think about it that photo is from the Boardwalk. I stayed at BCV last year but got off the bus after the race at the Boardwalk (it was the first stop at the Epcot resorts and I didn't want to sit too long and tighten up). So you can see that it's sort of on the edge of the resort...

I was going to respond with the info, but Ariel484 You gave visual! Great!

Baloo76, We usually spend a couple of hours, but have rushed through in less. I like to look around and usually am dragged out by my family!

I don't think that you could have prepared me any better- thank you! I'll keep an eye out for that sign

The BWV bus picks up in front of the convention area, make sure to ask a CM for directions the first time you need to catch the bus so you aren't wandering around. This is also where you will pick up the bus to get to the start of the race:).

Thanks, Bephus! I've been looking at maps of the BW, so I think I know where the front of the convention center is, but I'm sure we'll be asking for directions anyways. Or at least, I'll be asking...DBF doesn't like to ask. ;) Thanks!

Speaking from the male side of the pool, it's really obvious where to go for the BWV since the convention center and regular bus stops are within site of one another.

So..how busy will the expo be Friday around 1pm? That's assuming my flight is on time, ME to resort and trans to expo, so it could be later.
