How long is too long?

I have heard that yep, is there a big price difference between buying 2 x 5 day passes or the 10 day pass? Where can I buy the 10 day pass? Thanks for the help :-)

Can't remember the price but it worked out heaps cheaper to buy the 10 day pass than buy 2 five day passes. We got our 10 day passes from Flight Centre.

I've just purchased 10 day hoppers for our forthcoming trip in Sept.

I bought mine through Magical Mouse Holidays in the South of Sydney. Would happily recommend them. I had found the tickets were tricky to find through 'uninitiated' travel agencies (including my local Flight Centre). I was being given the run around, told 5 days is the max you can purchase and we'd need to add additional days once we're there etc. Emailed Kirsten at MMH and all sorted quick smart.

Price at the time of purchase for me was $AUD474 per adult and $AUD464 per child. That equates to $USD366 per adult at the time of writing. Only slightly more than a 5 day hopper. That price does fluctuate with the exchange between the Aussie and Greenback.

In my mind even if there's a minuscule chance you'll want to stay over 5 days, get the 10 before you leave Aus. In fact, just do it and put it out of mind.

I'm glad this thread has popped up. We've 10 days booked for last week of September with my family, my sisters, parents and nephew. 9 of us in total. My wife is a theme park cynic and I'm starting to worry we might be over it after a few 4 or 5 days. Planning a trip to Legoland and kicking back by the pool. My kids are maybe a bit young for USH. Not too interested in a beach trip. I'm 10k's from the coast so can hit Bondi anytime I want.

I guess we'll play it by ear.

We've been going to the park annually (from Texas) for the past 15 years. Up until the last year all our trips have always been 2 weeks long. A few times we took a 2 day side trip over the weekend but the majority of all those trips most of the entire 14 days of each vacation were spent inside the park.

While many folks thought us crazy for spending so much time in one place we loved the extended stays and really appreciated the leisurely pace it allowed us to enjoy. My bunch are not earlier risers so having the abundance of days meant we did not have to be at the park at opening unless we wanted to be. We could stay all day if we wanted or could just call it a day early if we were tired.

There has never been a need to worry about not having enough time to see all the attractions or ride all the rides. We are huge fans of riding the same rides over and over anyway so it works well for us.

There were plenty of mealtimes so we have enjoyed being able to try just about every eating place in and around the park.

Time and finances have reduced the length of out vacations down to a week for our last 2 trips and the next one coming up in 8 days. While it's pretty doable for most folks I really do miss our long relaxing vacations and hope in the future we are able to go back to making it a 2 week trek. Right now your 10 day trip sounds really good to me!

Also, something to consider...
If you are pretty sure you will be back the following year you really might want to consider purchasing annual passes. If you get in 10 days this year and another 10 the next year it will most likely be a good deal. 20 days on one ticket! Just have to make sure your second trip happens before your AP expires. Anyway, the AP can pay for itself after so many days plus you get the discounts on shopping and food. (and tours) Even if you don't want to go the AP route for your entire group you might think about getting one AP just for the discounts.

Who knows if you end up loving your 10 days in the park....... if you have an AP you might decide you want to stay even longer next time. :)

I have always bought mine through flight centre. The 10 day pass is usually only about $40 or $50 more than the 5 day pass. You need to ask for the Australian and New Zealand Residents park hopper pass.... some TA's dont even know it is available!

Hello! :sunny:

We fly from NZ and always go with the 10 day hoppers for NZ & AUS residents, we usually do a 14 day trip and add in a shopping day and universal/Hollywood. I have found if you plan to return within the year it's definitely worth getting and annual pass the discounts are great and definitely cheaper than 2 x 10 day hoppers (if you come back within the year)

Have a great trip!!!

Hey,
Another Aussie here, we did a 15 day Disney trip back in 2014 and can't wait to go back.

Those 10 day passes work out significantly cheaper than 2 5day passes. If you go to http://packages.qantas.com/brochures you can see what you would expect to pay for each of the passes.

Where are you planning on staying? If you are staying onsite at GC/DLH/PP it may be worth your while buying an annual pass (even just one for whoever will be booking the hotel). For our trip, between the hotel and in-park discounts, it worked out significantly cheaper than buying park tickets (though your mileage may vary). Annual passes can be bought directly from the Disneyland website.

If you get an AP and stay onsite, you should book the hotel with Disney directly over the phone to make sure you get the AP discount. You will just have to show your AP on arrival day once you have collected it.
