How long is the drive from the Catholic Church to the Polynesian?

We are planning on taking a cab from Wilderness Lodge to the church across from WDW and then taking a cab back to Polynesian for an 11:00 ADR at Kona Cafe. Mass is at 9:30, do you think we will have enough time to be back at the Polynesian by 11:00. Also, this will be our first time going to Mass outside the property and does anyone know if I have to arrange for the cab to come back and pick us up or will there be cabs waiting at the church. Thanks.

We were staying at OKW in Feb. 2009. We were planning to attend the Sunday 11:30 services. We left 45 minutes early, 10:45. At 11:30, I think that was the Mass time, we could just see Our Lady Queen of the Universe. When we got up to the church, the security staff just waved you on. And parking in the mall next to the church was just as crowded. Traffic was so heavy on the road to the church, that at 11:00 I told my parents, we will not make it to church on time. The reality was, we could not even get into the church.

Part of the family went to the Saturday evening services. It took them over an hour to return to OKW due to the heavy traffic and being directed to turn in the opposite direction.

In December of 2009, we choose to go to a different church. There are a number of other Catholic Churches in the area. They are all within a 15-20 minute drive. We went to the Church in Celebration. We had no major traffic problems.

In the future, we will attend one of the other Churches in the area.

The problem with Queen of the Universe is that it is so big and so noticeable for tourists, but also located at one of the most crowded intersections in the vicinity of WDW (This is also the access road to the Orlando Premium Outlet mall.) Traffic backs up there all the time just generally, then when you add the traffic for services it comes to a near-standstill.

Corpus Christi in Celebration or even St. Faustina in Clermont are likely to be a quicker trip and a cheaper cab ride. (Each of them is about 8 miles from the CR by road.)

PS: QTU is likely to have cabs outside, but I doubt that the other two would. It would probably be best to pre-book a cab to pick you up after Mass ends.

Thanks for the information, I never thought of trying another church in the area. I will look into the church in Celebration. Again, thanks.
