I was wondering how long it really takes tour Animal Kingdom. We will be there the first week in Oct. I was thinking about getting there around 10-11 am and staying to watch the parade. Is this enough time to see most everything enjoyable? Is the parade worth it? I was thinking go early but I don't want to tire out the kids, age's 2, 4, 4 and 7. I was thinking sleeping in going later would be better then taking a break and trying to get back for the parade. We will be staying off site. We didn't get to see a lot of this park last time though and I want to see more this time. One nice thing is only one 4 year old and 7 year old are mine. My sis can take her two younger ones back if they get tired.

We have gotten to AK at 9 every time and stayed to about 2. This will give you pretty much all the time. Now if you want to stay for the parade, which is good, I believe that it starts at 3pm. Good thing about the parade is that when people are watching it, the line for the safaries are pretty much a get on.

I agree with crow11ad- if you aren't in to the shows such as Tarzan Rocks and Festival of the Lion King then AK is about a half-day destination. This will get you through all of the major attractions and rides including the two animal treks (Asia and Africa), the safari ride and It's Tough To Be a Bug. We even had time to ride Dinosaur twice this past July and we left AK about 2:00p after being there at 8:30a waiting for the park to open

Wow, see, it just depends, it sounds like you indeed could follow those plans. We, however could not! DD loves animals... we took our time on the trails, talked to the CM's that worked there - awesome. We took in FOTLK, Pocohantos, Flights of Wonder ( a must do for our family - love birds, but I'm sure others dont find it so!) the Safari, then it was parade time, we did Kali, and dd wanted to see the safari in the late afternoon, so we did, and I thought it made a difference, then we did Kali a 2nd time -

we didnt see any of dinosaur land, we didnt see Tarzan rocks... :confused3 and we were there from open to close!!

Oh we did the Rafiki Train thing, that for me was a bust, but not sure how dd felt, Pocohantas was there... we didnt do Camp Mickey for the characters either...

It's hard to do a whole day at AK without a lot of repeats. Adding to the difficulty is that two of the bigger attractions, "It's Tough To Be a Bug" and "Dinosaur", have some serious fright issues for younger children. My DS is sensitive to load noises or other "in your face" action and had to be taken out of "Bug".

During our first visit (in 11/2003) we filled the day by doing the Cali River Rapids eight times in a row (there was practically no line so it was easy to do).

During our next trip (11/2005) we are planning only half/two-thirds of a day for our entire seven day visit.
