How long does it take to walk back to DLH after Fantasmic/Fireworks?

I am wondering how long it will take, considering the crowds and all, to get back to DLH after the 9:00 Fantasmic and 9:25 Fireworks (early May).

I'd guestimate... 15, 20 minutes? Why not consider taking the monorail?

I can't speculate on the crowds because we tried to leave before the shows (small child who needed to sleep). We also went at a fairly non-crowded time, so even though there were shows, it wasn't crazy to navigate around people. But in general it took us 6-8 minutes to walk from the Dreams tower at DLH to the gates of the parks, if our son was in the stroller. With him walking on his own, much longer. ;)

With the crowds it can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes. Maybe more depending on the crowds and how fast you're walking after a long day :)

Oh yeah, the Monorail is definitely the way to go. . . that will cut your walking time to like 4 minutes, if that.

if you are in New Orleans Square watching Fantasmic, would it be better to walk across the park (back over to TomorrowLand) to catch the monorail? It seems like a long walk. Wouldn't it be faster to just exit the park down Main St. I don't really have my bearings for DL overall.....someone help this girl out....pretty please!

Thanks a ton!

I was wondering this as well!

Also--even if it might be shorter to take the monorail, would it be faster--taking into consideration possible lines to board the monorail, and also waiting for the monorail itself to arrive? :confused3

Well, if it were me, I would probably take the train to TL from NOS, and then hop on the monorail.

Do they still have priority boarding for DLH guests? They used to have that last time I stayed there, which heps immensely if there is a line.

The lines to board the monorail can be really bad at this time. If they are only running a couple monorails (because the others are out for refurb) the wait can be long. The walk to the htoels will depend on how the crowds are getting down Main St. That may be the worst part. Once you are out of the park you can usually keep up a good pace through Downtown Disney.

Looking at the map provided by Disneyland, I think your best bet would be to go through Tomorrowland. You are going to have thousands of people going through Main St.

Thanks everyone for the info! It sounds like a toss up. With the monorail, one would need to walk from NOS to Tomarrowland, and wait in a line there. I guess it would help if there was a "preferred" line for DLH guests. We will have our 4yo in a stroller.

Well, what I would do is let the crowd die down a bit and stroll to Main St, where I would stop at the Blue Ribbon Bakery for a Hot Chocolate and Cinnamon Twist! Then, and only then, would I be ready for the walk back to the hotel.

What I've done is hop on the train from NOS to Tomorrowland and then right on the monorail. I doubt it saves you any time in the end, but it saves your feet! If by the end of the day they are on fire- this is a good relaxing way to go! And you avoid the crowds.

...or that place with the ice cream cones..makes that trek out of the park very enjoyable.

We were there during the spring break insanity. We were trapped down by splash mountain after Fantasmic and the fireworks one night. It took FOREVER to get back to main street... the crowds of people were insane. We decided to use the train one night... long line for the train to go anywhere.
By the last few nights we figured things out... we watched the last showing of Fantasmic and were sure to avoid anywhere near the fireworks and or the 9:30 showing of Fantasmic... it just was not worth the crowds.
Hopefully you are there during a less crowded time :)
