How long does it take to respond to e-mail questions?

I sent in a couple of e-mails on July 17th to podcast@wdwinfo.com. This is the first time I've sent e-mails to the show and on both I recieved an automated reponse that Julie and Corey were on vacation but would be checking/reponding to the e-mails the next day on July 18th. I have not heard anything since then. Is this normal or do you think my e-mails got lost and need to be resubmitted?
Thanks.

To be honest, I've sent a fair few amount of emails and a voicemail all of which have probably been disregarded since they were quite a little while ago (before yours)

The team picks emails from the ones submitted that they feel would help the most people to read on the show. They don't always respond to every email sent. If yours wasn't read it may need some research, or may be too specific to your situation that it may not necessarily be of help to alot of other listeners.

Perhaps one of the team can correct me if I am wrong.:confused3

If you are really concerned about it getting lost try submitting it again. Just realize there is no guarantee to get an answer or to get it read on the show.

If all you want is an answer to the question try posting it here or on one of the specific threads- the people here are a wealth of information!

Hope that helps.

Rick - you are pretty much 100% correct !!!!

The only exception is sometimes Regina will answer emails that come in directly if she feels they need an immediate response due to timeliness. This is really up to her and I cannot say if you do X, Y & Z she will answer you.

Please keep in mind only emails read on the show will get the pin & lanyard or shirt and are eligible for our monthly drawings for prizes. If you send an email and ask that someone replies, and they do, it is not eligible for those things.

One more thing I want to say about how we choose emails/voicemails...while there is no science to it or sure fire way to get yours read/played I would suggest listening to past shows. First, you will get a feel for the kind of stuff we can answer (i.e. none of us have been to DLP yet so questions asking us specifics about that park won't get read). Second, if we have answered a question before we most likely won't read an email about that topic again (many of the emails we get are from questions we have already answered). And the easiest way to get your email not read is to ask us what you should do for a birthday/anniversary/celebration - we have pretty much done those to death. And don't ask if the special parties (MNSHHP, P&PP) we have said they are over and over again.

Hope that helps.

John

They only read letters or emails if your name is Kim.

Well...I happen to know a young lad that had his email read several months after it was submitted (but it was definitely worth the wait!). :goodvibes

Just curious- for people who have had their questions read, do you get notified in advance that your question is going to be read or is it a surprise when you are listening?

I always listen hoping that mine will get answered (of course I love listening anyway), but I have a feeling they would contact me in advance if it was.

Nope, it's a suprise. Afterwards Julie sends you an email asking if you want a shirt or pin/lanyard.

So keep listening and hoping!:cool2:

I have to agree with John on this topic.

We try to pick emails that will help people plan their Disney trip.

If you ask a question which would be very specific to you and you alone, chances are that your email will not get read.

And to repeat what John has said.....MNSSHP and the P&PP are both worth it. Your 2,3,4,5,6,7,8.....99. 100. 101 tear old will love it. Go have a good time. They are both worth the money.

Emails regarding the value of either of these events are quickly tossed aside.

How do I make a birthday, anniversary, proposal, bar mitzvah, christening, retirement etc special?

Gotta tell you....we feel we are pretty much out of "clever" on this topic. These emails get put aside as well.

One last thing....if your email asks for information that is just not available to the general public, we cant answer it.

We've got a pretty good collective knowledge of all thing Disney, but we can not answer questions about an Imagineers home address. You get the idea.

And Pete has told everyone....voicemails get in quicker than email and recording your question and sending it via email gets in quicker than voicemail.

This is also a good idea for folks out of the US that dont have access to the toll free number

It also seems to help if you SING!!!! :rockband: :mic:

Thanks John & Kevin for clearing that up for people. I already knew all that, thats why I just coming up with odd questions.

One quick thing though, I sent a voicemail asking about the arcades at WDW and DCL not too long ago, and soon after that appeared a page listing all the arcades and then Pete was talking about an upcoming segment. Anything to do with the voicemail or just good timing?

And it could depend on how fast you listen. I got the email from Julie before I heard the show, but I was late listening.

Ha! I just asked about if it's a surprise and then...surprise- My husband's question just got answered today! It was the one about the future of Disney. Haha I like how he just started listening to the show, sends in one question and it makes it! I have been listening for almost a year...I have sent in many questions and nothing :rotfl: But that was exciting!

I even told him (since he is a new listener), "Don't get your hopes up, many questions come in and they only answer a few." Ha!

We get a lot of emails that suggest the same idea, and we have many projects 'in the works' - so if you suggested something and we do it but don't mention you or your email most likely it was already planned.

Also keep in mind that many of the things we do are just a progression on what has already been done or in the works. For example, we are reviewing all of the resorts - we now get a lot of emails suggesting we do a specific resort as a segment...well, if we're reviewing resorts we will eventually do them all.

If we do segment or something comes directly from a listeners input we will let them know. I think Pete is very fair and generous when it comes to giving out credit, and prizes.

Must have just been good timing then!
