How long do ya'll think Disney will offer the low point buy-in?

Just for my own clarification, is it possible to buy-in at less than the minimum number of points (whatever that might be at the time) if you buy through resale?

We don't go very often. And one of the things that put me off the last time I seriously considered DVC was the idea that I had to commit 20K. But if I can but 50 or so points at the current resale prices, that seems pretty manageable.

Absolutely. That's what we did. We wanted to be members so badly but didn't have the big bucks to plunk down. We also didn't want to finance. Our first contract was a 75 point BCV resale through the Timeshare Store. Jason helped us. He was great. You get the same perks that every DVC member gets.

I second the info of the poster above. A small resale contract is often the perfect way to get your feet in the water.

In addition to the Timeshare Store, there are several other resale companies that are frequently recommended by many posting here at Disboards. The others that are recommended include

DVCbyresale.com (Shontell)
Fidelity (Rachel)
**********.com (**** or Jaki)

There are quite a few threads detailing the resale buying experience, so I'd recommend that you look through several of those and read up on what to expect with resale... then take a look at the contracts offered on all four resale sites before purchasing direct from Disney.

Good luck!

Just how we got in as well...50 point VWL contract. WE then added on at BLT as a member--didn't have to pay closing costs and ended up with a price per point that was better for the # of points we added on.

Great way to get your foot in the door!

Thanks for the info. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I have to admit, I thought the high threshold to join (160 points) would always keep me out of DVC. Or at least until the kids were grown and college was paid for. But 5K is very doable.

I'll definitely do my research. I won't seriously be in a position to take another trip for at least a couple of years. (The kids are young.) But I'll start saving my pennies now. And who knows? A couple years from now I may actually be a DVC member. (Again, I never though that would be possible!)

Of course, the toughest part will be convincing my DW!

Thanks again!
