How long did your princesses stay in their dresses?

So I was able to get CRT for lunch :goodvibes. My DD4 will want to wear her dress, but I don't know when to put it on her- first thing in the morning?? Let her wear it all day? Does it get in the way when she rides the rides? Should I bring an extra change of clothes in case she gets tired of wearing it (like that will happen!) Sorry for all the questions; this will be our first experience with this, so I'm just trying to figure out the details. Thanks for any advise!! princess:

The first year I made a dress for her and she wore it from about 9:00 until 1:00... just after lunch, then she ditched it so she could go on the rides easier. This year she wore the Cinderella dress we bought for her in Norway only during the meal and then immediately wanted it off because it was itchy. Guess it depends on how comfortable the dress is and how hot it is.

And I think it depends a lot on the individual child, too. My 6 year old niece has a large number of princess dresses and has to be discouraged from trying to wear them as street clothes too often. She'd wear hers all day every day if we let her... :cutie:

does she wear dresses at the house all the time. my dd7 is always in her princess dresses. our last trip was in december and she was dressed up almost every day. we previously went to disneyland in april and october...she was 2 then 4...and during those trips she also stayed dressed up all day long. keep the temps in mind too. you didn't say when you were going, but if it is the summer, i would recommend bringing only a few costumes and maybe bringing some shorts and t-shirts to the park with you. i ordered disney princess t-shirts for her for this trip, also, i have a friend who sews clothes, so she made 2 sundresses of princess material.

what worked for my girls 2 years ago, was to take the dress with us, change right before the meal and then it was up to them if they wanted to change back or leave the dress on.

our first night, we had an ADR at the Cinderella dinner at the Grand Floridian. In my ignorance, I dressed the girls in our room at POFQ and off we went. By the time we rode the bus to the MK and then the boat across to the GF, the girls were hot and said the dresses were itchy. Even though we cooled off in the GF while waiting for our table, both girls wanted to change into the shorts/tshirt I had brought along. So - it would have worked if we had our own car to drive, or better yet, waited until arriving at the GF to put the dress on. After that first experience, I got smarter with our next planned princess encounters.

the girls favorite dresses weren't the fancy princess costumes, but sundresses I made out of princess fabric. We got tons of compliments. Here's an old picture with Cinderella fabric, I made my DD8 a similar dress with Ariel fabric for our last trip.

oooh, I love the idea of dresses made from princess fabric! We'll be doing CRT in September, and I wanted something special for the photo, but DD doesn't do well with "itchy" clothes! What a great idea!

When we went we dressed my dd in her dress and brought extra clothes along. Once we put the dress on her, she didn't want to take it off. She ended up wearing her princess dresses the entire trip!!! At home she barely ever wears them, but I think with seeing all the girls with them on, and the extra attention she got, she only wanted the dresses! She had no problem getting on any rides, but she had just turned three, so we weren't doing anything too fast. Goofy's barnstormer was the fastest ride she rode....and loved it by the way!!! Anyway, I would pretty much leave it up to your dd, since she is the one that has to wear it. Good luck and hope you have a great time!! WE LOVED CRT!!

DD wore hers (despite the heat) until we purposely took her on Splash Mountain so that it would get wet (she hates wet clothes!) She was beet red but refused to take it off.

To the Poster who wants to make dresses from Princess fabric, come visit the DISBoutique board and check out the designs

I also believe that it really depends on the child. My middle dd wore hers all day while the youngest only wanted it on for a couple of hours.

We took our DD5 to BBB the day after we arrived, and then she wore the Cinderella dress the WHOLE two weeks vacation:faint: . We went last January and was pretty cold for us, so I made her wear jeans and long sleeves (blue, so it matches the dress) under the dress.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! We are going in Dec. so I will for sure bring pants and a long shirt to put on, just in case! And I'll put her in the dress just before we eat :thumbsup2 I too love the idea of making a dress out of disney fabric (I looked on the sweing board for a bit too long I think :rolleyes1 ) My MIL sews, so I'll ask her opinion and I'm sure she would get a kick out of making something for her only granddaughter :lovestruc Thanks again, and we'll see you in Dec :yay:

My princess wore her princess dress the whole day and night of Pirates and Princess party. However by the end of the party I was carrying the princess shoes and she was going barefoot to the bus.
My pirate on the other hand has about wore out his pirate costume. He wears it everywhere. He has had it for three years and now instead of pirate pants they are pirate shorts. He gets so many comments. I tried to get rid of it when I thought it was too small and he told me it wasn't too small, It was perfect.

We are going in 15 days and I am planning on bringing the dress into the park. We have a 9:50 CRT reservation so we are going to get to the park ride 1 or 2 things and the I will take her to change while DH and DS ride something a little more wild. I know that in the heat she will not want to wear it for long. She is 4 by the way.
:)

DD wore hers to breakfast last summer, and then for about an hour afterwards. I just took extra clothes and let her decide when she wanted to change.

Our Princess wore hers all day and then wore a different one the next day.
Our daughter's skin is so sensitve that she had to wear light clothing underneath her dress.
