How long can you stay in IOA after closing? Want to see HP area at night.

We're headed to Universal in a few days. We want to see the Harry Potter area at night, in the dark. But the park closes at 8:00 and sunset is at 8:20-ish, meaning it won't get dark until sometime later. How quckly do they whisk you out of the park after closing? What are the odds of staying in until dark?

This was more than a year ago, but a couple of times last year they let us linger and shop in WWoHP up until about 45 minutes after park close. YMMV.

if you are in line for a ride and the park closes, you are allowed to stay until you complete that ride.

the ride line willl be cut off at park closing time but you are safe..


stores will allow you to make your purchases even when it is closing time.
if you have merch in your hands and going to the line or in line to pay, you are good to go.

last year i was in a long ride line and the park closed.

40 minutes later i was done with the ride and then left the park.

Depends on if you want to meet the Orlando PD with a free nights stay downtown.


Depending on how busy it is you can stall and get from 20-45 minutes.
