How long at Animal Kingdom?

We normally manage to get to Epcot for 3:00pm,which includes having lunch. Just not our most favourite park,in fact it's the only one that we never Hop back to!
SD :firefight

my boyfriend and I got there at park opening and spent all day - until 5pm when they closed the park. :sunny:

AK is a park, that for some reason, we tend to really take our time. We don't hurry from one "ride" to another. We let everyone rush by, and take time to talk and listen to the CM. They usually have a display, animal, etc.. that our kids love to stop and watch. I wouldn't say that it is our favorite park, just one of the best we've ever been to. Janice

We easily spent a whole day there when we went last August. Kids loved the animals, it was nice to have a change of pace.

We were at the rope when it dropped and we left at 1pm, but EE was not open yet and it was too cold for Kali River, so if we were planning on going now I doubt we would get out b/4 3pm.

If we arrive at DAK for the rope drop (9:00), what time do you think we'd be done with this list?:

  • Go straight to Expedition Everest to ride( &get FP for later?)
  • Ride Dinosaur
  • Triceratop Spin
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Boneyard for 30 minutes
  • Get FP for ITTBaB?
  • Lunch at Flame Tree
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Flights of Wonder
  • Kilamanjaro Safari
  • Rafiki's Planet Watch (we may skip this?)

I am planning on spending the day there for our next trip. It's not my favorite park, but DH and DD both love it. I also want to try and catch the parade. :)

We will then have the evening off to recover at our hotel and get ready for the next day. :)

It's my second favorite park and I'd like to stay until closing at 5:00 but, we have reservations for Spirit of Aloha at 5:15. I'm trying to decide when we need to leave DAK and how much we'll actually be able to do.

You didn't RIDE ITtbaB (just FP)
You didn't include seeing Festival of the Lion King.

But, if you need to LEAVE... just look at your watch and leave when you run out of time... what else can you DO?

1. 20 minutes including walking getting FP and riding
2. 20 more minutes
3. 10 -15 minutes
4. 15 minutes
Boneyard for 30 minutes brings you to about 10:40- time to go back to EE
5. Just go on ITTBaB (11:20)
6. Lunch (40 minutes)
7. Kali- 12:30
8. Flights you have to be watching the schedule but I would send someone to get FP for Safari before you watch this
9. Safari (with the FP you got earlier) 2:00
10. Rafiki (If you didn't get FP earlier get them before going and go on the Safari afterwards. 3:30
You might as well stick around for the 4:00 parade - it is very different from the other ones.

This is assuming you are going at a less crowded time of year otherwise many of these things could take longer.

We usually have gone to AK on an early morning and typically leave between 11-1. Please keep in mind we have two other factors to consider: 1) our children our only 3 and 5 where they do not have the height or have no interest in them, (2) we live in a major metro area which offer a zoo which surpasses the AK exhibits.

Personally, I would like to see the parade one day, but this appears will only happen when the children are older or we alter our plans to arrive later in the day.

Over the years AK has become my favourite park. I spend all day here. In fact during a typical 10 day trip to WDW. I will spend three full days here enjoying everything. I know that I have not seen everything that this park has to offer.
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks for listing all the above! I wasn't sure about timing. :thumbsup2 We're leaving for WDW next Saturday!

As far as ITTBaB, our family would split up because the little ones are afraid of it. So, dh will probably go see it with dd, while the rest of us are doing something else.

Nah, Festival of the Lion King isn't big on our to do list. I've listed the rides/shows that we prefer first and things that can be missed for later in the day in case we have to leave.

We usually take our time with this park. We enjoy it's relaxed pace. I can be there at rope drop and still spend two full days there during a week long trip. Maggie

I would spend all day and then go back again another day. Animal kingdom is my FAVORITE park! There is SO MUCH to see and like others said, it's more of a take your time, keep your eye out for things that are out. One day I watched these birds interacting for about a half hour. It was so wonderful. I can watch the merekats for hours too, it's relaxing and they are hilarious. I could also stand on the bridge where the apes live and wait and wait for one of them to come out far enough. One time I saw an ape sitting in the waterfall. He had a bucket that they give the food in, he was taking the bucket under the waterfall and pouring it over his head. It was amazing. You just gotta watch for things like that. AK is not a rushed place, if you rush you're definately going to miss A LOT.

tricia.

We usually spend one whole day and then bounce back at least once for a few things. I can't imagine missing Lion King. Now with Everest there are alot more people in the park also so things might be alot busier so take advantage of fast passes. We love AK, more eack time we go. :thumbsup2

We may just have to hop back one day because, AK is my favorite park right after MK. It's not that we don't like the Lion King, it just that my youngest dd is so afraid of the Lion King (it's so loud and the lion is so big), so we'll probably skip it.
