had a checkup earlier-and had a surprise replacement filling.

Ive not had a replacement before;maybe I'm just getting softer:rolleyes1
As it's several hours later and still rather uncomfortable.

What's been your experiences?

Your bite might be off. If it's only happening when you bite down it just might need to be filed down a touch. Two seconds and the pain will never return ;)

Thanks for this.
It's kind of around the whole area where the dentist worked her magic.
just had some ibuprofen.

Usually I don't feel anything at all with the actual tooth. Occasionally the Novocaine injection spots will be a little tender, depending on where they were. Our dentist is really conscious of having a pain-free experience though, she apologizes for every little thing, it's so cute.

As a child of the '60s I'm now having quite a few fillings replaced. I do find them rather painful/sensitive from when the injection wears off until 3 to 4 days after the work has been done both in the tooth and the site of the injection.

I recently had a filling replaced and that tooth was sensitive for 5 days.

After my last filling my mouth ached for a couple of weeks (only in the evenings though... weird). I still had severe sensitivity to cold for several months. My teeth are pretty sensitive, though.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Flying on Thursday-so may need some extra pain killers!!

I had one on Monday. I've had no pain at all (other than the actual pain of the injection in the first place) since the procedure. Hope yours has settled now.

Orajel can be a useful painkiller for teeth! The extra strong one is WONDERFUL!
