How long a walk is it to PO-FQ from PO-R?

We will be staying a few nights at PO-R in the mansions section in late January. Supposedly the main pool at PO-R will be closed during this time. Is it practical/possible to walk to the French Quarter pool? Would driving our rental car be a better option?

Actually, they have a really nice boat that will take you from PO-R to PO-FQ that runs from 9 am to 9:30 pm everyday. It runs every 15 minutes, and we loved it! No sense in using your car... the boat docks right near the PO-FQ pool!

As for the walk, it would take you 10- 15 minutes, but it is very beautiful!

ArcticWildMan, I just returned from WDW the other day. I stayed in building seven at PO-FQ and walked to Riverside for dinner one evening with my young daughter. The walk was lovely and it took us less than ten minutes.

Thanks for the replies!! That makes me feel a lot better. We are only staying two nights at PO-R so we can try the mansions (stayed in the bayou section several years ago). The pool closing had me worried since my two DD's liked the pool so much the last time we stayed there. Luckily we are starting our WDW vacation at PO-R, so we all should have plenty of energy and be able to handle a short walk like that to PO-FQ. If nothing else, it will give us a chance to check out PO-FQ and help us decide if we want to stay there on future trips.

Have a magical vacation. And don't forget to use the boats as has already been pointed out here. When we walked from FQ to RS, it was to see Bob Jackson's show (which was wonderful, by the way). When we went to swim in the RS's pool on another day, we took the boat over from FQ. As you can see, we used both modes of transportation and enjoyed each one. If someone in your party doesn't like to walk, then the boat or a car would be the way to go. I really enjoyed the PO resort. I won't hesitate to stay there again.

It's a very nice 10-15 minute walk. When we stayed at POR last October we used the POFQ pool 3 of the 4 days we swam. It seemed much warmer than the POR main pool & it's very convenient to the POFQ food court. The walk is very pretty at night, too.

ArticWildMan:

How did you like staying in Aligator Bayou? What building were you in? Looking to stay at PO-R in March!!

We were in building 28. It wasn't that far at all from the pool/foodcourt. 5 minute walk would be my guestimate. I really enjoyed the early morning walk to get coffee. It was quite peaceful.

We really liked Alligator Bayou. It was rustic and relaxed. We are going to try the mansions this coming trip just to try the other side of PO-R. The mansions are a little more "classy" with fancier interior furnishings from the pics I've seen.

it's only about a 10 minute walk from each resort to the other, and its a lovel walk too! Have fun!!:smooth:
