How late on arrival day will you go to a park?

I'm seeing lot's of posts about what to do on the first day and I was wondering what everyone's feelings were about using a park admission on your arrival day.

When we went we arrived around 2:00 p.m. and we got settled in POR. Then we hopped back in the car and went to AK.

Was it tiring? Yes, but it was worth it.
We just wandered around, no hurry, enjoying all the sights and all the people!

We got there in time to see the parade, too.

Would I do it again? YES!

For me it depends on the type of ticket I have. If I have a length of stay pass, then I will go to a park - maybe do dinner (depending of course on what time I get there).

I have gone with a 5 day hopper passes before, and then have not gone late to a park (don't want to waste a day on only a few hours).

We always eat at the Rose and Crown our first night...it has become a tradition....

We have annual passes, so if we arrive later in the day we will still jump on the monorail to see Spectromagic and the fireworks. If we arrived early and went to a different park, we still do Spectro and fireworks at MK the first night.

LoS passes like UPH's include the arrival and departure days in the price, so you might as well go do something since you've already paid for it. (FWIW, if you don't want to go to the park the first night you *can* save some money on check-in by having them trim the arrival day or departure day or both from your UPH's.)

We have AP's so the time remaining to close is not a big factor to us - we will go out to the parks as long as there are 4 hours to go before the last park we plan to get to closes

For example I arrived at AKL mid afternoon, headed out to the parks around 3:30pm - went to AK first since it was the first bus - AK closed at 5:00pm so I hopped a bus to MGM and then walked up to Epcot and "closed" the park at 9:00pm

We have found recently that we can take flights out the night before we want to arrive to get in an extra full day of vacation. Bascially we are arriving after 11 PM so all the parks are closed. But if we could go to a park, we totally would. This way we get a full night's sleep and are able to tour the parks well-rested the next day as opposed to being the walking dead because we got up at 4 AM to catch a plane and still miss half a day.

My GF and I are going down in November. We have the Gold Plan, but, since we are driving from New Orleans, we figured we'd be too tired and/or getting in too late to make arrival and departure day worth it, so we booked single nights, room only on the ends and saved about $400. Now, on the first night, we are doing the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, hanging out at the MK for a while, then doing dinner at Cindy's Castle. It's the plan that works best for us.

We check into our resort and then head onover to the parks. We do have AP's.

We have AP's, so it's all gravy.

We have APs so we don't have to worry about going to the parks for an hour one day or 4 the next.

We drive straight thru with only a few stops and I do all the driving. After 13 hours on the road, we would rather have a quiet dinner and hang out at the resort than go to the park. Sometimes we go to DTD or the Boardwalk.

DH and I always purchase park hoppers, so I don't want to waste a day when we first get there. Typically, we arrive at the resort right around 4pm and I like to check in, shower and then head either to Downtown Disney for dinner or the AKL to BOMA!

It depends on what type of ticket we have, if we have length of stay, we will go no matter what the time. But if we bought park hoppers, I wouldn't waste a day use with less than 6 hours of park time.
