we have park hopper plus passes for our upcomming trip. we are due to arrive mid afternoon, but may get on an earlier flight.

Whats the latest you have gotten to a park and not felt like you've "wasted" a day?

It depends on where you are staying and what time the parks are open until. We are DVC members and have usually stayed at the BWV's. When we arrive late (around 4P.M.) we usually head over to EPCOT on that day and do World Showcase. It is an easy walk and we stay through Illuminations. I might feel differently if I had to drive and park.

We've arrived at 4:00 in the summer and still gone to MK. But that's when the park is open late. We have a hard time getting in "The World" and not making a beeline for the MK right away. I think it's an addiction. ;)

For me personally, given my "park commando - early bird gets the worm" mentality I think that if I had to arrive after say lunchtime, I would be one unhappy camper. Of course I don't know how many days you have besides the day you arrive. I guess if for me this was a short trip say less than 5 day, I would be happy enough for a 1/2 day at the parks as that would be better than wasting a day. But if at all possible, I would relax unpack and take a breather from traveling the first day, possibly go to a dinner at one of the monorail hotels and then watch the Electric Water Pagent from the shore. For our upcomming trip we are driving down arriving in Orlando 4pm, staying at an inexpensive off-site hotel to recoop from the drive and doing an early check-in at the CSR approx 7am next morning. After than I have a PS at Boma for a late breakfast then I plan to lounge around pool at CSR until room is ready. After unpacking, we will leave CSR early enough to tour monorail hotels before making our way to Poly for Luau dinner. Technically we won't be into the parks until our third day in Orlando (I never thought of it this way until now  )

too late..is....5 minutes after the park has opened..call me silly but.. i could live there..lol...just teasing.....i believe the total feeling is simple your own...whatever you are comfortable with!:Pinkbounc

For me that would be a great time to go to DTD and get some of the "spirit" without using a whole day on the park hoppers. It is also a good time to get the souveniers so you don't have to drag them around the parks all day. If you want to stay through the evening, go to PI and enjoy, then hit the parks in high gear the next day. That works for me anyway.
