How jarring is Star Tours at Hollywood Studio?

The wife has kind of a bum neck so no coasters, but looking at a YouTube video of the attraction, it too seems like it might be a little too bumpy. Any opinions? And Soarin'?

I don't think it's bad. A few years ago, Back to the Future at Universal almost killed me.

Hmm. How bad of a bad neck? It's not smooth like Soarin but I didn't find it particularly rough. Course I can ride small coasters like 7D and Everest.

I find Star Tours to be pretty jarring. Soarin' will be totally fine. There's not a lot of movement and what movement there is is very smooth.

It's a real suspended flight simulator that simulates flying, dogfights, dives, crashes etc.
Definitely a bumpy ride...but fun and several different "flights"

Star Tours is quite jerky in my opinion.
I certainly would not ride if I had a bad neck.

Soarin is very smooth. Nothing to worry about there.

I have a "bad back". Two spine surgeries (2010 and again in 2014). Star Tours doesn't give me any issues. Actually neither does Dinosaur, another otoriously "jerky ride". I have to be mindful on Space Mountain and things like Pirates, Splash that have a drop because the bottom of the drop hill can catch me wrong.

It is jarring, and I love coasters, going to Cedar Point every year... Star tours gives me pause after every ride.

It's rough and the back row was the worst because my feet couldn't touch the ground (I'm 5 foot 4) but in the other rows they could and having my feet firmly planted on the ground made a huge difference.

Star Tours is the ride that gives me the most trouble out of any other ride. Even Mission Space doesn't cause as many issues for me as Star Tours.

If you have a D-Box capable theatre near you, I'd try that and it should give you a good idea if you can handle Star Tours or not.

Once I ate at Pizza Planet and then rode Star Tours I wanted to honk so bad. It was awful. I'm not sure if this was Pizza Planet or Star Tours' fault. But I've avoided both since then.

If you go onto MDE, you can filter the rides by "Health Issues" - any of the rides that have warnings for people with heart, neck, back, etc are listed

I have a bad back and Star Tours is fine for me. But I plant my feet firming on the ground and hold on to the arm rest so I brace myself a bit.

I can not do Space Mountain at all....way, way too jerky and Rock & Roller and Dinosaur are usually out too, again jerks you around too much.

Soarin is very smooth, no issues at all

I was just about to say the same exact thing. If they decide to ride do not go on the last row. Of course that's the row we always go on because my daughter loves the bumpiness, same for Safari

Soarin' is totally fine. Star Tours is the only ride in all of WDW that made me sick and gave me a headache from how rough it was.

I am with those who say it is very jerky. Not as bad as Space Mountain though but that is a totally different type of ride.

Star Tours is jerky - especially the newer version since they added the new movie footage. It was the worst I'd been jerked around on it ever. I doubt I'll be riding it anymore.

Soarin' is smooth.

Soarin' actually barely moves at all beyond the initial lifting of the seats. It just kinda rocks back and forth a little with the movie. Any side to side motion is an illusory effect. It should have no adverse affect on an injured neck.

Star Tours certainly could. It's a bit rocky. It's not as bad as The Simpsons Ride at Universal, which is a similar kind of ride, but it will still toss you around. Plus there is no real head support, so unlike some rides where you have a headrest to steady your neck, Star Tours really doesn't have anything. I'd be careful on that one.
