Hi, everyone! I want to do something special for my birthday this year. It’s during the Flower and Garden festival so I’m considering doing that. How is it like? What type of events do they have? Do people from HGTV still come? Would you choose F&G or MK for your birthday?

I'm a sucker for MK and am hoping to spend my next birthday there. That being said, F&G is a lovely time to visit Epcot. The topiaries are beautiful. There are also some additional food booths out around the World Showcase.

Epcot has always been my favorite park, even as a kid. Plus I love topiaries and the food booths. Oh and the butterfly garden.

If you're more into rides, I'd say go to Magic Kingdom. If you're more into looking at pretty/interesting things and snacking at booths, go to Epcot.

DH & I love going down to the Flower & Garden Fest! While it's still cold & gray up here (NY) the flowers & bursts of color everywhere in Epcot as well as the rest of WDW make it an extra special time of year. The topiaries are gorgeous, the food booths are yummy & the sun is shining. You'll love it!

Thank you all. I wish I could do both Epcot and MK on my birthday but the 1 day Park Hopper is so expensive and my birthday falls in the restriction for the discounted Disney 4 day tickets. It’ll be $190 for a one day Park Hopper which is crazy to me. I can go to Universal and Islands for 4 days for $40 more.

I've gone twice during F&G. Its nothing spectacular to me.
That may be because I grew up going to Cypress gardens during their flower festival with lots of topiaries.
I didn't do any of the "special events" because they just didn't seem overly interesting to me. Again that may also have to do with the fact that my dad is a farmer so I grew up knowing about plants/flowers etc.

Between Epcot and MK I'd choose MK for my birthday.

I'm an EPCOT fan, so would choose EPCOT anyway (lol) but, Flower and Garden is one of my favorites. If you want to see EPCOT look it's best, this is it; it's bright and colorful, interesting things to look at and experience and eat! Also, EPCOT always feels less crowded to me and I enjoy it more overall. So, that's how I'd decide if I were you; what will be both relaxing but joyful for you birthday. Have a great trip!

There is a butterfly garden at F&G? I did not know that, this will be my first as we usually do F&W. Something more to look forward to, :)

I really enjoy the Flower and Garden show. The topiaries are amazing. Loved the butterfly house.
the flowers at EPCOT are always good, but during this time, they seem even better.
It is not as good as Food and Wine. They still have plenty of food kiosks, but not as many as F&W.

Happy birthday!

"I'm walking right down the middle of Main Street U.S.A. (on my birthday)". :rolleyes1[/QUOTE]

We have gone to the F&G Festival many years, but will not be going this year. Every year Disney has done less and less extra to beautify Epcot. Is is gorgeous? Oh, yes, but when you've seen it in greater glory in years past, the excitement begins to pale. Then, when they started with the food kiosks, it took away even more from the beauty, but we will bow out gracefully. It's still our favorite park next to MK :)

Where is the butterfly house located?

HGTV was not a part of it last year. I love the F&G Festival. Epcot never looks prettier. I'm a gardener so I love it. The food is also good at the booths. The topiaries are fun to see. It also has some of my favorite souvenirs.

I'm going to miss it this year for the first time in 8 years. Kind of sad but it is what it is.

YES! It's not super huge but there are paths you can take through, if you're familiar with food and wine, it's near the backside of club cool where they usually have the 'earth eats', 'coastal eats', and 'active eats' kiosks. Up on the lawn.

And last year, they had a fun play are for kids where the Chocolate Studio is during F&W. We didn't have young kids with us, but it looked fun.

Flower and garden Festival was my favorite because of the workshops. They discontinued those last year. Now they will have concerts every night. However, when I first began going, you had concerts every night and special authors, workshops. Now they sell you food. I miss the workshops!
