How is the BLT Pool?

Hi Everyone!

For those of you who have stayed at BLT, can you tell me about the pool? I know it's no comparison to Stormalong Bay, but I just want an idea of what to expect: How deep is it?, What's the slide like?, How quickly do the pool chairs fill up?, Does it feel crowded?, What are the hours?, and so on...

Also, is it possible to swim at the Contemporary's pool? Please don't bash me for this question. I'm just curious. If it is possible, would you even want to to go over to the Contemporary to swim from BLT?

Lastly, how's the food at the Cove Bar (I think that's what it's called)- the lil food/snack place the the BLT pool?

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate all this.

Well there are several great things about the pool............AMAZING slide that my kids all love (but don't know how that compares to Stormalong Bay. It goes from kiddie shallow to I think about 4 feet and I've never felt it feels crowded. It is possible to swim at the contemporary pool and that's what the negative is..........depending on the time of year, the building shields the pool from the sun very early in the afternoon. So depending on your point of view (we're not huge into tanning) that could be a good or a bad thing!

Food at the Cove Bar is fine...........little snacks and kids and adult beverages but we've used it for snacks (a quick peanut butter and jelly, etc.) Hope this helps.

My son LOVED the slide and went down it over and over even though he was freezing and shivering every time he got out of the pool and waited for his turn to slide again! It's about 4 feet deep in the center of the pool - not very deep at all. It wasn't crowded when we were there, but that was November and it wasn't great swimming weather.

BLT guests can use the Contemporary pools...if they are DVC members, I think? I don't recall, but I'm sure someone else will post the correct info.

We were there early May and again the first week of November. Both times the pool was crowded and finding a chair (arriving at 1:00PM) were difficult and often impossible. We had one lounge chair for our party of 9 and shared it. In May the pool was so crowded I felt like I was standing elbow to elbow. My granddaughters loved the slides (toddler one and main one). I love that they have a beverage fill up station. After the 2 trips there this year I've received a survey each time. Both times I commented that this pool is too small for this resort and thought a second, quiet pool would be a good addition -- they could take out the tennis court! In May the grand-girls and I walked over to the CR pool just because it was much quieter than the BLT one. While it is gated, it doesn't really prevent anyone from coming in. Since this pool does allow DVC pool hopping, I guess there are DVC members using that perk too.

Which pool do you mean? If you mean the BLT pool, no it does not allow pool hopping. I assume you're talking about the CR pool, though, where pool hopping for DVC members is still allowed?

Guests of BLT are allowed to use the CR pools. I prefer the large round pool in the cabana area at the CR over BLT pool. It is much quieter and deeper. The CR pool area also offers the ability to refill your mug and hot counter service that takes the DDP.
Having the sunshine in the cooler months, is a big plus too. Being so close to the lake can be breezy so the sun helps alot.

Did not try the BLT slide but it was very popular and the little ones seemed to enjoy the splashground.
The hottub stayed busy from what I saw.

We stayed there in July. :thumbsup2

1) We greatly enjoyed the pool area..never wanted to go check out the pool at CR
2) Never had a problem finding a table with chairs
3) DS12 enjoyed the slide more than the slide at SAB (faster)
4) Watch out for the birds...they are fearless. They hang out by the pool bar. They will hop right onto your table. We watched a bird fly away with a chip bag right in its mouth!

Guess I need to update myself. I assume that DVC guest could pool hop at the BLT pool. I thought only AKV and BCV/SAB were prohibited. I only say I thought it was allowed because on both occassions we watched families come in with street clothes and while I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were guest who didn't have their rooms yet, but overhearing some of the conversions, it appeared they were not BLT guest and were staying at SSR. :confused3

Just stayed there. I agree with the shade assessment. It was shady, but warm enough, so that was fine. My DS 6 loved the mini water slide (just to the left of the big slide). . . his first "water slide" - got him into the bigger ones. It was zero entry, which is also nice. It wasn't crowded when we went.

We also spent time at the CR pool, which was sunnier, less crowded, and my kids LOVED the splash park. We'd almost stay at BLT again just for the pools. . .

We stayed at BLT in June as part of a split stay with the BWV. We thought the pool at BLT was really crowded and too small for the amount of people there. We enjoyed having the drink refill stations right there. We were able to find a chair for our party of 4 to share. There were sections of the pool deck in shade in the afternoon. While the slide was "fine", we enjoyed the length and speed of the Keister Coaster at BWV a lot more. We were four adults.

We also noticed several (I don't want to say "many", but "a few" is not enough) groups coming through the gate after someone with a key card swiped and opened the door. They seemed to be lingering outside the gate just waiting for someone. Obviously there was something strange about that, but I have no proof that they weren't staying at BLT. We don't know if that is why the pool felt so crowded or not.

though you could refill your mug at the bar at BLT pool?

allergic to the sun - so mostly can only go in the evenings and early morning.

sometimes the evening were busy - sometimes hardily anyone else was there.
