How is the availability for AKV Value Rooms?

Are there a lot of the Value 1BR and 2BR villas available? How hard is it to book one? We are just getting ready to purchase and are trying to decide which resort to have as our "home".

They are only located at Jambo House and are very limited in number.

They have 10 2-bedroom lock-off units and 8 dedicated studios in the value category.

That's why I was so pleasantly surprised that I got a value studio in October at about 6 months. I had to go on a waitlist, but then it came thru in only two or three days.

We booked a 2 bedroom value for Thanksgiving week at around the 10 month mark! He said we called just in time and they were almost all booked for those dates!

I think sometimes it is the luck of the draw. I went on a cruise in March and we went to Beach Club for 3 nights after the cruise which we booked at 11 months. As it got closer we decided we would like to go 3 days before the cruise also. Since I had never been to AKV I thought these 3 days would be a great way to try it.

I was really surprised when I called at about 6 months out and was able to get 2 value studios. They are a great deal on points and we enjoyed AK very mich. I love trying all the resorts.

I think that the value 1BR and value 2BR's are some of the best kept secrets! The value 1BR is perfect for our family right now and we love the fact that we have a chance at a savanna view for so few points. When our kids get older, we'll probably spread out a little more and try for the value 2BR.

That being said, the "secret" is getting out and I am pretty sure that the value rooms, particularly the 1BR's and 2BR's will get very difficult to book at the 7-month window. The studios are quite small for a family of 4 so, IMHO, I think those might be easier to get. That, and there are 8 more of them than there are 1BR's and 2BR's. If you have any intention of utilizing the value rooms on a regular basis, you really should plan on purchasing at AKV.
