How is the annual pass upgrade price determined for 3rd party tickets?

I have a question about upgrading a 3rd party multi-day ticket to an Annual Pass. If I buy a 3 day ticket from somewhere like Undercover Tourist, how do they determine the cost to upgrade to the annual pass? Do they know what I paid for the tickets, or do I get to upgrade using the current price difference between the Universal ticket price and the annual pass price?

Thanks!

Normally you will get credit for the direct Universal pricing for your ticket. So a 3 day ticket is credited as what Universal would charge you for that 3 day ticket. If it's a Universal promo (IE buy 2 days get 2 days free), you will get credit for the Universal promo price regardless of where you bought the ticket from (you will not get credit for a 4 day ticket).

Thank you. This is very helpful. It is nice that you "keep" the ticket discount when you upgrade.

I've always found the math to be a bit fuzzy when upgrading tickets at both Universal and WDW. At WDW, if you ask 3 different CM's you will get 3 different numbers. Universal is a bit more consistent. You should get the value as described above, but it might be off a little.

Still, a Universal AP is generally a great deal, because the discounts are great.
