My DH are planning to eat there one night during our anniversary trip and hope to get outside seating. Yes, we hope to get it, but if not that's okay.
Mainly, I would like to hear about the food. Is it good?? What type of entrees, etc. have you eaten there?

We ate at the Rose and Crown last trip. We liked it, but prob. only chose it for the view of the show (which was awsome) The food is pretty good, and if you are a beer drinker, its a lot of fun. I remember the mashed potatoes are very good.

The Rose and Crown is one of my favorite restaurants, but mainly for lunch. Nothing breaks up the day like their Guinness Stew and an ice cold Guinness (or two) to wash it down. We have been there for dinner a few times, but the evening crowd isn't the same as the daytime group. Most of the evening patrons are there for the prime seating for Illuminations, and could care less about the ambience. Try visiting at lunch time and you'll love the place. Enjoy! :)

DD had good fish and chips, and DH had steak. I tried the pie sampler which is meat pies, and I really enjoyed it! We found the restaurant a nice break form Mickey and his pals.

Our party of 7 went in late Feb and I really liked it a lot. Great service, great ambience. 3 of the adults had the fish and chips- very light and crispy, and served hot, crispy fries and peas (gross) were our veggie (although my 20 month old GOBBLED them up! It was so funny- shoving them in his mouth like they were decadent chocolates or buttery popcorn). Oh, and you get these Irish rolls beforehand that were very hearty and good. My DH had the special- steak and stuffed shrimp- he liked both. My Mom had that prime rib and she loved it- she liked the mashed potatoes too. One of my kids had a hotdog, and one had the pizza- both standard, and came with a cute plastic Epcot cup that had a lid. An extra bonus!Cross your fingers and hope for Kerry as your server- she was lovely and totally made up for the fact that we didn't get the outdoor seating.

We loved the Rose & Crown, and have eaten there 3 times. Once was durnig Illuminations, on the patio, and it was awesome!

Each time we've had the Fish & Chips - delicious!

Most recently we were there celebrating my birthday, and because I was wearing a Birthday Button, our server brought us complementary champagne, and took our picture as we toasted.

I have to say that out of all the restaurants we've tried in our 3 trips to WDW, the Rose and Crown has not disappointed us. We first went there in '92, it was wonderful. Then again in '99 and our third trip was 3 weeks ago. Each time the food has been great and the servers have been very friendly. Many of the restaurants we had remembered as being good, weren't quite as good as we had remembered. But not the Rose & Crown. Needless to say, I made my Priority Seating Reservation today for our July trip!:) Can't wait for the Pie Sampler!

Does anyone know if there's a list posted somewhere of the various ales they offer at the Rose & Crown? Ever since returning from Ireland three years ago I've been desperately hunting down a place in the US that serves or sells Bulmers, which is an absolutely incredible cider ale made exclusively in Ireland. I'm crossing my fingers that the R&C serves it, but I'm not very optimistic ... Anyone know where I could find out?

Thanks much!

DH and I celebrated our anniversary there last summer. The fish & chips are excellent. We also ordered a mushroom appetizer that was delicious! We like Rose & Crown so much that I'm sure it will be a stop on our next WDW trip.

Taken from our menu from last September (2002). These are their "specialty" drafts, I haven't a clue what they offer in bottles. I go for the Harp.

Half & Half - Half Harp, Half Guinness $6.75
Shandy - Half Sprite, Half Bass or Harp
Snake Bite - Cider topped with Harp Lager $6.75
Black Velvet - Champagne and Guinness $6.75
Black & Tan - Half Bass, Half Guinness $6.55
Cider & Black - Cider topped with a shot of Ribena $6.75
Woodpecker Sweet English Cider $4.95
Strongbow Dry English Cider $4.95

What time do you make the reservation if you want to view Illuminations? If you are seated inside can you still see the show?
Thanks!!!:Pinkbounc

We normally make our PS for in the 7:30 to 8 PM range. For some reason, we always get 7:40. The idea is to be getting done your dinner around 9 PM. Note that when you get there, you'll spend twenty minutes in a line of people asking for patio seating. You'll then sheepishly ask for patio seating, and they'll tell you in a polite fashion only those from the UK seem to be able to muster that they can promise only to try. It's really a crap shoot to get on the patio, but oh what a great spot to watch Illuminations.

If you're inside, you can walk outside when it starts. Remember to not block the servers. You'll also take a heap o' crap if you stand between the patio patrons and the lagoon. But worry not, there's plenty of room for everyone. It's a real party. And in some ways, to truely experience the R&C, you SHOULD sit inside. But there's something special about sitting lagoon side, sipping a harp, and feeling the heat from the cannons going off. Either eay, enjoy!

Our last visit was rather dissapointing. Soggy fish and chips etc. It is great when it is great. But when it isnt it is really a bad experience.

My favorite restaurant in WS. I love the food, and prices aren't outrageous. Staff always a plus. Nothing like watching Illuminations from their patio seating!
