How is Rope Dropping Seven Dwarfs These Days??

Has the hoopla died down enough that one can rope drop 7 Dwarfs and wait less than fifteen minutes if one walks at a reasonable pace to the ride? Or is it still super popular?

It hasn't died down. It's a mass of people heading there first thing. I'd arrive about 60 min prior to opening and head straight there

We were through the tap stiles at MK at 8:45 last Friday. We walked directly to 7 Dwarfs and got in line right at 9. We were off and on to our first fast pass by 9:20. Maybe we were just lucky but that was our recent experience.

60 mins before! so it has gotten worse. since it opened we would rope drop on an early morning day like 30-40 mins before opening and usually wait 15-20 mins tops.

ahh. this summer the people getting to the parks earlier and earlier and earlier was a pain. we experienced the 60 mins early for FOP at the turnstiles. we were already a couple hundred back. seems like the buses run earlier than 7 even to get people there earlier and earlier. that 60 mins early ya i can see that now cause we got to magic kingdom 30 mins early and people were already in and being let to the rides. there were wait times already so again. . . earlier and earlier and earlier. . .

my days of rope dropping might be coming to an end just cause there is no way i'm getting to a park 60 plus mins early.

If you're interested in an alternate strategy, the lines are much shorter late at night. The longest we've ever waited close to closing time was 20 minutes during opening week in 2014. Since then, we've found several 10 minute waits right after the fireworks show. There's never been a need to wait an hour in the morning for this one.

Buses start running daily at 6:30am. Sometimes a little earlier if a park is opening at 7am

Similar scenario for us this week at the MK. One day we were off and out by 9:08.

Until tron opens, the line won't die down.
At RD, we and 20 others headed toward Space Mountain.
The masses headed toward PP and 7DMT. watching the app, the line quickly grew. Good thing to have a FP for.

We arrived at about 8:45 on a Sunday a few weeks ago and stood near the bridge that everyone takes. The crowd was nearly to the end of the bridge. We watched the show and as soon as it got to the end, we joined the crowd on the bridge. The line was wrapped by the fence past the tea cups and already a 45 minute wait. So we left and did Space instead. Nothing is worth a 45 minute wait. Guess you have to get there even earlier and be at the start of the bridge where you can’t even see the castle show...which means you are still waiting at least 30 minutes.

If you leave your resort (ASSp) at 6:30 via bus headed to MK for 8am emh, what time will you be let into the MK Main Street Area? Do people go directly to the rope for whichever land they want to RD? (Fantasyland or Tomorrowland) and wait until they are walked to the rides? Would a 6:30 bus get us to the front of the RD Crowd or should we drive and plan to beat the 6:30am buses?

I was there at the end of August and this is still the most popular ride in the park. The line will hit 30 minutes almost immediately after the park opens, and never died down, even very close to closing. I've done it before, and although I enjoy it I don't think it's as good as Space Mountain or Splash Mountain, and it's very short. I therefore prioritize the mountains at rope drop and hit this ride mid-afternoon (60 minute wait) or at park close.

I don’t understood. If you have to rope drop and ur waiting in to enter park for 1hr, than when park opens your waiting at the ride line for 10-20mins, than it sounds like just as long if not LONGER wait to ride during mid day. Are people not factoring Wait times while your waiting for park to open??

What am I missing?

Yes, you’re still waiting, but you’re not using park time to do it. All a matter of preference.

Back in June, we were the only people on the 6:30 bus leaving from Kidani (and swinging by Jambo) heading to MK. We were the absolute first people in line at the security check-point coming from the buses. No one else was there except the guards and they joked with us about being there so early. Once they got us through security, we were among the first in line at the tap-stiles (the crowd had built behind us and coming from the monorails and boats by then, so we just sort of swarmed up and fanned across the tap-stiles. I can't remember exactly what time we were let into the park, but it was an 8:00 opening and I think we were in there by 7:30 at least (maybe 7:15). I just know we had proceeded down Main St. and the CMs had to stop us and push us back a little because they weren't ready for us (they were doing wedding pictures at the castle and training a horse/handler along the trolley route, which we got to watch...kinda neat). We actually heard the announcement made to CMs about park opening and having their lands ready to go. Then they let us go on up to the hub and we went right to head to 7DMT with several hundred of our closest friends (LOL!) We were very close to the front of the pack, right at the rope. They led us back to the ride and it was straight walk-on. We were off and had time to go stand-by Peter Pan (15 min wait by then) before going to get breakfast at Main St. Bakery and then heading to Big Thunder for our first FP at around 9:30ish?

On an EMH morning, they will let everyone onto Main St around 7:30-7:45 and held at the ropes.

The problem you have with driving on an EMH morning to MK is they will "assume" you are an offsite person since you are driving and arriving at TTC. They try to hold the offsite guests at TTC until closer to 8:00. That doesn't mean you can't get over to the park, but it is more problematic than taking the bus that drops you off right at the entrance. Getting a 6:30 bus will get you there in plenty of time to be wherever you want to be.

What's the best route to Mine Train? It's in Fantasyland, correct? Through the castle and straight on through morning, or to the left or right of the caste? I haven't been there since they redid Fantasyland.
