We are thinking about making an ADR for this place but I can't recall seeing it ever talked about on these boards? Is that a sign that it's no good? The menu looks good. :confused3 Who's eaten there and what did you think?

Ate there last year and found it to be 'ok'. No complaints, nothing memorable either. We enjoyed the Italian place in Epcot alot more.

My DH and I went there recently and we liked it. Italian food is one of our favorites and we found it very good. Great decor too. They have a couple of "characters" walk around to each table.

Hi,
Our family loves mama melroses! we go ther each trip. The flatbreads are realy good! and they have this yummy little chocolate desert that has a warm chocolate center
Its located just around a corner, kind of opposite the muppets theatre. :thumbsup2

When discussed on the boards it seems that people either LOVE Mama Melrose or they HATE it. We went in March and my husband and I liked it but our daughter wasn't thrilled. But I would have no problem recommending it.

We went last Dec and were not impressed...we were so looking forward to this meal because we are huge Italian food lovers and the smells that come out of MM are yummy but the food was super bland...Olive Garden is a gourmet meal compared to MM

We have eaten here on almost every trip and enjoy it very much. Some favorites are 4 cheese flat bread, pepperoni flat bread, penne alla vodka, and chicken parm.

I didn't like it at all. Me and some of my friends went there when we were in HS, in Disney for Magic Music Days, and lemme tell you, I wasn't impressed then. It was a whole lot like eating at a Fazoli's.

DH talked me into giving it another try last year. I figured it'd been 14 years, might as well. Again, not impressed, not at all. I know some people on the boards just love it, but there's better places to eat honestly. If you're set on Italian, maybe give the new Italian resto in Epcot a shot?

our meal was good, decor and atmosphere ok, if a little noisy. However, service was not the best. - My DD5 loved it most of all especially the flatbread.

I neither love it nor hate it. The food was good. There is better food in WDW, but there's also worse food.

Consider this, though. At MGM there's really very little choice for a non-CS meal. You could eat at a buffet (Hollywood & Vine), a standard TS (Mama Melrose) or a signature-style restaurant (Hollywood Brown Derby). Take your pick. All are at least acceptable, and HBD is excellent but considerably more expensive than the other two. (Also 2 TS credits, if you're on the DDP. MM is only 1.)

My DD5 loved it most of all especially the flatbread.
Which brings up a related question: What's the difference between "flatbread" and "Pizza?" For example, Mama's lists a "4-cheese flatbread" on the menu. How does that differ from a pizza?

I ask because I have a reservation there for dinner one evening in December.

Thanks.

Let me put it this way, we are looking at othe choices this year at MGM, we are looking at Hollywood and Vine, may not be any better, but we are willing to take our chances. We liked Alfredo's in Epcot very much, but, not it's gone. Oh Well?

We were there in August and had the flat bread pizzas - my daughter had alfredo. All were very good. My philosophy is try as many restaurants as you can, and cross off the ones you don't like. And you won't know unless you try it.

Karnak: I'm not sure a 4 cheese flatbread would taste like anything else except a pizza!! It probably looks different and hasn't got a lot of sauce??
We get flatbreads all the time at WDW as appetizers, but never anything that might resemble a pizza

We went here on our last trip this past April. It was probably one of the worst dining experiences we had the entire trip. We had an late lunch/ early dinner so when we went, it wasn't at all busy (maybe less than half full). They seated us (party of 2) at a table right in the path of wait staff and where they seemed to "congregate" to discuss their tables. I note that it was the only table right in this path. It took the waiter almost 15 minutes to take our drink order and bring us our beverages...then couldn't answer any questions about the menu. During this time, one of the waitresses leaned back and put her butt on our table!! (and offered no apology). That made me super agitated and I asked to be seated elsewhere. That seemed to tick off our waiter, and the service just got worse from there. The food itself was not very good, and the portions were small. I couldn't wait to leave.
Definately we won't be going back. I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone.

We were there on October 21st for dinner and loved it. The atmosphere was great, the "characters" were amusing without being obnoxious, and the food was very very very good!

We had the Artisan Breads and Spreads for appetizer and really enjoyed all of it. My MIL had the Eggplant Napoleon and practically licked her plate clean, :lmao: . DH & I had the Oven Baked Chicken alla Parmesan over spaghetti and he risked losing a finger when he stuck he fork into my plate after he inhaled his plate. FIL had Spaghetti with meat sauce and was also almost licking his plate. DS6 & DS2 shared a cheese pizza which was... well it was cheese pizza - not much you can say. :) For dessert DH had the Cheesecake and a fight almost broke out between him and MIL for the last few bites. I had the Tiramisu which was good but I'll admit that I have had better tiramisu. Nothing was wrong with the tiramisu it just wasn't "stand on your head in the rain while singing" good.

Much better than Olive Garden or Carrabba's!!

We had an ADR for the Fantasmic! package here on our trip in September, and we all enjoyed it. Sure we had better meals throughout the week, but we found the food fresh and tasty--with HUGE portions for some of the items--and the service very good. We have not tried the Italian restaurant though, so we have no comparison.

We all agreed that we would like to return here sometime.

:upsidedow

I have a fail-safe policy for that kind of problem at any restaurant I enter. If I don't like where they seat me, I leave at once. I don't complain, in fact, I don't say anything, I simply leave.

This, by the way, is very rare; but it has happened, just not at WDW.

No it's not.

I like Mama Melrose. It's not the best Italian food I've ever had, but the atmosphere is great and so is the sangria!
