How is it possible that everything is booked??

I was trying to plan a quick weekend get away right after Halloween. EVERYTHING is booked! And if it's not, the prices are high. I've been this time of year, more than once. I don't remember this being an issue. I just can't seem to make a weekend work for less than $2,000. How is this possible?? I really need this ... like REALLY. And THIS was the weekend that worked. I can't be flexible. And now I'm just sitting here with soul crushing sadness with 500 internet tabs open that all point to this idea not happening.

In my experience, it would be fairly unusual for anything to be open only a month out other than the expensive deluxe rooms. If you really need to go that weekend, try staying offsite? Sure it isn't in the Disney bubble, but at least you get to go?

Its a very busy week. There is availability at many of the Disney Springs hotels the weekend after Halloween. The hotels offer busing to the parks and they are within walking distance to Disney Springs. We have stayed at the Wyndham and Best Western, both were nice. Check out rates on Hotels.com. You'd have to Uber to and from the airport (if you fly).

weekend after halloween is start of Jersey Week. My understanding is that its going to be VERY busy. Combined with F&W. Forgetaboutit.

That's a very busy weekend and you're really late to the game. If you're willing to stay offsite I'm sure there are options available for a decent price...but make sure to factor in transportation costs to/from the airport and parks.

When was the last time you went? If it's been a few years, you might have missed the shift in guest attendance patterns that has recently occurred at WDW. Fall is now an extremely busy time of year. Late October/early November will be packed. (By contrast, midsummer is now a more moderate crowd time of year at WDW.) Summer is also much cheaper for resorts, btw.

Another tip is to try a Disney exclusive travel agency that might have its own Disney resort stock available.

My guess would be the increasing heat/humidity that makes it just so unbearable. When younger, I would jump at the opportunity to go - especially during my birthday (Labor Day) -- but in recent years, I've told DH no thanks/no way. I'll wait for a cooler month and deal with a larger/heavier crowd.

I'm glad there are a lot of people like you who make our summer trips such a breeze. We love swimming at those fantastic resort pools and water parks as much as we like visiting the theme parks, so summer is our favorite season to go. Midsummer is cooler in Orlando than in my hometown, anyway.

Keep trying —- even if you have to call everyday ... The exact thing happen to me for October 12 - 16,2018 . I really was in shock .. but I kept calling & not demanding to the Rep. on Phone & 1 Lucky day .. it Happened . I got what I wanted ( Finally) All I can say is “ October is Happening at Disney World”

Not trying to be simplistic.... but it's kind of how WDW works, these days. We are DVC owners... always book our HOME Resort at 11 months.
Other owners, non-home, book at 7 months.
GP or AP - PLEASE book "commercial rooms" as soon as you can. Don't wait for those "discounts". They are few, limited, often poor. Just BOOK - then lurk. If WDW offers a discount? CALL, snag it, and see if they really want you to "cancelrebook" (one word indicating FAR more work for WDW). "Cancelrebook" doesn't make WDW any money... labor is involved, and it COSTS them money. The classic pattern for this if faced with a recalcitrant CM? Book new offer, seal it, and cancel old offer - in the same phone call. In 12 years, 24 vacations? We've only had to do this ONCE.

"Book rack & lurk" was our standard practice, prior to becoming DVC owners . Always worked around 2012.... we have no idea how well it works in 2018.
