I can't believe there are no studios for our time period of Dec. 2-7 othere than SSR. We have been DVC members for 5 years and gone every year in Dec. and never had this problem. Any ideas why this yera is so bad ?

We were wondering about that too. All we saw was OKW and SSR. I guess luckily we aren't going this december but next, but it doesn't bode well.

economy is getting better, i guess. no one is putting off a trip.

or else the aulani buyers have decided that airfare to wdw is cheaper than to hawaii and have added to the booking pressures at the 7 month window.

early december has always been a super high demand time for DVC...this thread should be very interesting to watch (and you may want to contribute your observations):

but this is also why so many posters try to tell you to "buy where you want to stay..."

Because we wanted to attend the DVC meeting which i believe is Dec 13th,yesterday I booked a BWV studio...G/P view from Dec 9th-15th...the man did mention there were no SV or BW view studios for that time frame..
Wanted to make sure i did this before the 7mth window arrived for other non BW members..

I noticed the same thing, no studios at BW or BC or Wilderness when I checked about a week ago.

Will have to resort to other measures, perhaps a trade with another DVC'er who owns at one of those resorts.

I booked for December at both my home resorts (VWL and BWV) 11 months out. I have been trying to switch one night with no luck. I am still on the waitlist, but I dont have much hope of it coming through.

Good luck to all!

That week has always been popular. I've gone many times and always booked at 11 months.

End of the Mayan Calendar is this December 2012. Maybe everyone is trying to get one last vacay in?

If only I could trust those darn Mayans. :rolleyes1 I would be booking the most "Royal" Suite at AKL or Poly or Grand Floridian if I thought they had it right. Go out with a bang!

My theory on the whole Mayan calendar and December 2012 thing is that the guy who was responsible for creating it figured he had already worked it out for the next 1000 years or so and was going to take a break for a few days before starting on the next 1000 years. The next day the Spanish showed up and the rest is history. :)

:lmao: I KNOW! It's almost like the Mayans didn't even think about us and our issues with booking at Disney. Is it too much to ask for an end of the world guarantee so we can get good rooms?

;)

It's one of the BUSIEST DVC weeks of the year because the points are so low. You've got the parade filming around then, you've got MVMCP, and the weather can still be quite good that week.

In 2010 we were there that same week. When I originally called at the 6 month mark, there were no studios available on property. We wait listed and a week later we had a room at AKV.

IMHO - parade filming is the best reason to skip the MK. What a mess!

A lot of members want to come for the annual member meeting in early December.

A lot of members want to come for the annual member meeting in early December.

One of these years I'll make it. Most likely this fall will be my last one teaching. Then we'll be in the 11 month gang to be looking at that week, at VWL!:goodvibes

And don't forget, the more the total membership grows, the more people that are competing for that same week.

We bought BLT specifically to take advantage of the 11 month window for the first week in December each year.

I had to move our trip up by one day to score VWL at my 7 month...made someone happy as I let go of my BCV for that time period...luv BCV, but will be there in October to enjoy the pool.

Today is the 7 month mark for our dec 9-16 trip. I was booked in a studio lake view with a WL for a theme park view but decided that we really wanted a 1 bedroom. I was up in the air between WL and BWV boardwalk view. There was availability at both for all but the first night.

I ended up booking all 7 nights in the garden/pool view at BWV and waitlisted the first night for the boardwalk view. I'm praying when I call back tomorrow I will be able to switch the remaining 6 nights to boardwalk view. It shows available today but I'm worried they will be gone tomorrow.

I was surprised at was available still for the week of the 9-16.
