Looking for an inexpensive motel/hotel that’s equivalent to like a value resort at wdw. Anyone stayed at Clarion or have any other suggestions?

I haven't really stayed at any kind of motels in Anaheim. Unless it's the hostel in Anaheim that's more a few hostel rooms combined with a motel. It was pretty nice although I had a really weird experience in one of the hostel rooms with a fellow guest who eventually left before anyone called for police.

If it's not too far away for you, in Buena Park it's not so bad. We had a hard time finding anything affordable for one visit (around New Year's) and stayed at the Fairfield Inn on Orangethorpe. It was maybe a 10 minute drive to Disneyland since it's almost right there to I-5. Not exactly that similar, but it was affordable and had a decent complimentary breakfast. The people we met at breakfast seemed to be more visiting family and/or a lot going to Knott's Berry Farm. ART also stops right in front, although it's on the street and not into the parking lot.

You can look around for other motel style accommodations, but I guess there are a couple of Motel 6 locations in Anaheim.

But Anaheim can have some great values. In previous stays we were at the Hilton Anaheim where it was $99 or $59 a night or the Sheraton for $99 a night, although they all charged for parking. And the Sheraton has limited parking. The convention center hotels can be really inexpensive if there's no major conventions.

Thanks! After I posted that I actually found a deal at the Sheraton!

OK. Just throwing that out there and wasn't expecting you'd really be interested when you said maybe motel style. The one near the convention center is Sheraton Park at the Anaheim Resort. But now that I think of it, the other Sheraton location in Anaheim (north of Disneyland) dropped the affiliation and is now independent. It was kind of odd looking with turrets and European exposed timber framing - even as a Sheraton.

This property is now the Majestic Garden Inn. They still have a private shuttle to/from the parks.

I ended up with Sheraton garden grove. I was only saying motel b/c figured that would be cheaper. I would prefer a hotel.

Oh - I was thinking about the one at the corner of Harbor and Katella. I store most of my reservations in PDF form and looked it up - $120 a night back in 2016. Nice hotel but the parking situation there is horrible with limited space at a surface lot. A few times the pickings were slim, especially with narrow spaces and where some cars went across the lines.

We stayed at the Hilton Anaheim a couple of times. Once we even used it as a base for visiting Universal Studios. The biggest problem was that it was huge. But I remember Thanksgiving weekend had almost no convention activity and it was $99 a night. And that was especially odd because there was a preseason college basketball tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Hilton Anaheim was the official hotel for the tournament. There were players staying on our floor and many had left their practice uniforms in front of their rooms to be washed, which was rather nasty. And Cal was there too, which was really weird. I ran into a couple of the coaches who I recognized and chatted a few times.

Transportation might be a bit tricky since the closest ART stop is more than a half mile away. The hotels/motels that are a little bit closer to Disneyland on Harbor would be on the #4 Harbor Line.

The hotel says they have a theme park shuttle & we don’t mind using Uber. I looked up on Uber app & says about $8 one way. That’s not too bad.

I don’t believe the hotel has its own shuttle. However, I was incorrect about ART. I looked at the A-Way-WeGo app and the ART #3 Grove District route has a stop right in front of the Sheraton Garden Grove and I checked on Google Street View and the sign is right there on the sidewalk. I have seen reviews complaining that sometimes the bus didn’t stop and drove right by when full. It goes south on Harbor where the hotel is the last stop before looping back towards Disneyland. But you might also be able to ride on demand to other locations, almost like requesting an Uber ride, but only between their designated stops.

Thank you! Plans are still developing so we may actually end up having a car.

Absolute dump IMO. Client put us up there when working at the Convention Center. My bathroom was disgusting, another crew had dirty underwear under a chair, and third left with a rash.

We told the client they needed to book us another hotel next year which we would need to approve if they wanted us back.

There is a reason it is cheap.

Hard pass for me.

I guess it's all relative. I had a limited budget last July and needed one night almost anywhere close to where I could travel via ART. Got a somewhat sketchy motel in Buena Park via Hotwire opaque booking. The room wasn't the nicest. It was old and it looked like the walls had been repainted over and over, while more expensive hotels would have paid to remove the paint before it got to that point. Maybe the carpet wasn't so great. The reviews weren't very good other than noting an extremely helpful employee. And there were complaints about noise and various "activities" going on. But when we got there it was fine for just a place to sleep for a night. We didn't hear any arguments outside (very common at cheaper motels), but occasionally there were people talking rather loudly early in the morning while loading their cars in the parking lot. Obviously not the most affluent guests, but everyone seemed respectful.

We made a repeat visit the next month and stayed Hotel Lulu for about the same price. Certainly a lot nicer and maybe it wasn't peak visitation time.
