How is "adding on" points handled?

We are thinking on adding on 100 pts to our current DVC membership. We are Canadian so we don't get financing through a US bank....we pay monthly with a credit card.
I'm wondering how we do the 'add on'. Do we just call up our guide and buy 100 pts and he just adds that to our current loan and keep the same monthly payments or do we have to put a down payment on the new purchase.

I am also looking at buying resale if I can find one with our same UY.

We just added on points through Disney. We called our guide, put the down payment on our card and will sign the paperwork on Tuesday when we go down there. We just paid off our current loan, but we were going to do it before and it would have been two different payments coming out. I don't see how your payment amount would stay the same if you are adding on. Unless you are thinking they'd just refinance everything for a longer term? I am pretty sure they won't do that. It would certainly be cheaper to do an add-on through resale so if you can go that way, then by all means, do!

There are some areas in Canada that need to purchase onsite and you wouldn't be able to just call and do the add on. I don't think it's all of Canada but am not positive. Resale won't have the same restrictions.

Hi I am Canadian also and live in Manitoba my understanding when we bought was that you could add on if you lived in Ontario but that was the only province Disney was licensed to sell in. This makes sense from a pure number of people that would buy. If I want to add on I must be at disney location or buy from the resell market.

Call your Guide and find out what Disney's requirements are. At the same time contact a resale Broker and check with them also.
