How important is it to have the same stateroom if you cruise back-to-back?

Here's my dilemma:

We booked the 10-12 western 7-day magic a few months ago, and I splurged for a cat 3 suite. Recently, we worked out our schedules so that we can also go on the 10-5 eastern cruise. I can't quite foot the bill for that suite for 2 weeks, so I booked a cat 5 verandah for the first week.

So, my question is, what would YOU do?

1. Put up with the hassle of packing up your stuff, going thru customs, getting back on and moving into another room. (This option allows you to enjoy the suite for one week).

OR

2. Downgrade the suite to the same cat 5 room so you can leave your stuff onboard and just have the same room for 2 weeks - but no luxurious suite!

Gimme your opinion, plus any pros and cons I might be missing here. THANKS!!

Did DCL tell you directly or through TA that if you changed categories / rooms you would have to take packed luggage off the ship and check in with it again? Would think you could pack up everything and cruise line would move it to your next cabin. You would have to get off the ship and check in again.

I don't think your luggage will leave the ship and chances are you won't have to either. We've had to change cabins in the mid of a cruise in fact we had 3 different cabins on 1 cruise. It was worth the upgrade. I would do cat. 5 first then move to cat.3. Yes, Yes, you'll be having the good life for those 2 weeks.
Can't wait to read about it. Enjoy.:bounce:

We chose to have the same cabin for 2 weeks. But, then again, it is an inside cabin and not the suite. Just think of that huge balcony after the verandah. If you don't get the category 3, where will we hold our party?
I would think that DCL would just move your bags for you. I can't imagine them making you take them off and back on again. That doesn't make sense.

I am quite certain (from a someone else's post a few weeks ago that I can't find) that you can leave your luggage on the ship -- Disney will move it to different cabin for you. You will have to debark and check in again though.
