How I Survived 11 Days at WDW with a Disney-Resistant Husband **2/20 THE END **

I enjoyed your last update. It looks like everyone was happy, YAY! I don't blame Katie for wanting to swim on that hot day. Your pictures are really great.

OMG! I'm totally going to have to check that out. :lmao: Especially since we just stayed at BCV....
I'm finally caught up on your trip!

Amanda

Hey Amanda...your trip was here and gone in a blink! Can't wait to hear all the rest about it on your TR!:)

We hope to stay at the Beach Club next Oct-I will have to get some before then! I  those smilely pics of ur Hubby

We really enjoyed the BC! And the BC smell is definitely a nice remidner of our trip!;)

I will definitely have to get that scent! My DS23 is a fanatic about Febreeze so I will have to see if he has seen that scent (or maybe he has it - I try to stay away from his room or DS17 :rotfl2:)

:rotfl: What is it with these men and Febreze?? I hated the stuff until this weekend!

Yup I sure am articling!!! I didn't think it would be possible to go to Disney during my Articling year but my firm is amazing and they figure I'll deserve a break by December!!!

We were really hoping to try WL this time, but it was completely booked. Maybe in a few years we'll have a bit of a bigger budget and can try the BC or YC - I'd love to be that close to EPCOT and your pictures are beautiful!

What a great escape from your articling year this trip will be! Completely forget about the law, hire backs, and the firm while you are there, k????;)

:lmao: with the febreze! how funny is that!!
I LOVED those pictures of Chris and the kids waiting for Tiki Room.. we all know he is a good guy.. :thumbsup2 and KUDOS on making the stew and sauce for you! what a great guy! I know how crazy it gets once school starts!!

As always loving your report!

Thank you!:goodvibes Yes, it was awfully nice getting the cooking done last week...especially because it was over 90 degrees here today!!!

Oh have you tried the purple bottle of Snuggle? It is lavender/sandalwood. Might be similar, and it comes in dryer sheets too! Imagine if you could walk around in clothes, and sleep in sheets, and towel off with towels that smell like Beach Club!

I have not tried the Snuggle...hmmm, now I can go to bed on Beach Club smelling sheets too??!!:rotfl:

That is hilarious!!! How wonderful to smell that everyday....! :cloud9:

Great little reminder of my favourite place!:goodvibes

Katie has excellent taste in music! Golden Dream is my favorite Disney song - it's so poignant. I'm impressed that someone as young as Katie would appreciate it.

I am so glad she likes it too! It is a great little history lesson in a song. She can now recite JFK's famous speech, Martin Luther King's stirring address, and knows what was said at NASA when we landed on the moon.;)

You canceled the BBB but were you able to keep the dinner at Cinderella's?

Yes - we still kept our reservation at CRT!;) Wasn't giving that one up!

I love that Beach Club smell! I can't believe you found it in a Febreze bottle! I'm going to look for that when I'm at the store later today:goodvibes

Let me know what you think!:)

Finally all caught up!! Loved the family photos- especially the ones of the kids jumping up and down- so adorable!!!

Interesting about that Febreeze scent- I used to use that alot, but stopped because my cleaning service (I use a Green cleaning service) told me Febreeze has formaldahyde, or something like that, that would not be a good chemical for Sean (because of his autism). But I may have to say too bad and spray away if I can feel like I'm livin' at BCv!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Oh no...you confirmed my worst fears...I knew there was a reason I was against Febreze. Hmmmm....now I've got a dilemma. I was starting to like that Beach Club smell in my home.

guess i'm going to buy febreeze and snuggle today :woohoo: .. could use a little disney in my day!!!

btw .. absolutely love all your pictures! and your husband sounds a lot like mine. mine may not be perfect (lord knows i'm not perfect either), but he's perfect for me. it's good to have 2 people who compliment each other so well. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Thank you!!!:goodvibes

Definitely with you on the smells. My DD1's suncream reminds me of her first holiday to disney world at 11 weeks old (yes we were mad with a 9 hour flight each way!!! ;)). I've loved putting it on her this summer when the weather has been good enough and remembering that holiday :)

It is amazing how much we can associate and relive with smells! Crazy, but true!:rotfl:

Thank you!:) Yes, in retrospect it was the right decision for us.

Maybe next October when her friend may be doing BBB for the 1st time Katie will want to do it again with her. She will be 8 by then, but I have seen many other girls older than that. I am going to keep that dress, just in case.;)

So glad that small part of the morning at least went smoothly and everyone had fun.

I'll keep that in mind about the Febreeze. We'll be at BC for our first visit in about two months. It always shocks me when DH comes out with hey - do you smell that. it smells like....and then says something from Disney.

:rotfl: about your husband and the Disney smells comment!

So Disney smell lovers, anyone use the H2O Plus body lotion everyday so they can smell 'Disney' in the morning after their shower. I think it's called natural spring scent. I love their products anyway, but now I buy it online from H2O when they have free shipping, it's my favorite lotion and it smells like my favorite place!

Good tip!;)

Dining at the Plaza!

I love the Plaza for Lunch. It is such a beautiful restaurant, with a nice view of the Castle, and if you are lucky, like Katie and I were back in March of 2009, you can even get a visit from the Mayor and Suffragette during your meal.

WDW-Mar2009122.jpg

However, unbeknowst to us, the Plaza was in the middle of a major renovation. The entire outside of the restaurant was completely boarded up, making the inside very dark, drab, and boring. We briefly contemplated going elsewhere. But we were hot, tired and hungry so we elected to stay. But what a contrast with the typically cheery atmosphere of the restaurant!

Here is what the restaurant looked like during the visit Katie and I had in March 2009:

And.....the view this trip:

No wonder the Mayor and Suffragette never showed up...who would want to spend time here??? We couldn't eat and get out of there fast enough!

To start, we each had raspberry ice tea. Yumm!!!

IMG_5428.jpg

The kids had fruit and uncrustables pb&j sandwiches, I had their side garden salad. Chris had grilled chicken breast and salad.

For dessert, the kids each had a Mickey sundae, and Chris & I shared some type of chocolate cake and ice cream.

IMG_5433.jpg

Food was good. Not spectacular, but not bad either. But the atmosphere inside that renovated restaurant was atrocious! Plus we were very anxious to get back to the pool. So we ate as quickly as possible!

On the bus back, we were laughing and joking about our day. Here is Chris' reaction to being on a crowded bus with lots of hot, sticky people:

But then he remembered where we were headed now...the Pool!

UP NEXT: There's A SNAKE in the Pool??!!!

What a shame, they should have closed the restaurant during refurb! That tea looked yummy, now I'm thirsty!:goodvibes

I should clarify about the H2O Plus lotion for those who don't know what I'm talking about, it is the same product line Disney has been using in the resorts for the past few years. It is usually only sold at exclusive malls and free standing stores in bigger cities. I rarely use the hotel sample products, but I was already familiar with H2O and can't get enough free samples while I'm there! I believe the natural springs scent is exclusive to Disney, and they do carry it online.

That is very surprising that they kept the Plaza open during the refurb! If people were a first timer there they probably wouldn't even realize...but for repeat customers what a let down!

But, it was a meal and served the need, right? Plus really cute Mickey sundaes!

I actually felt the same way about the Plaza on our June trip. It's such a great view regularly and it really did ruin the ambience when we felt like we were in a box! On the upside, my boys enjoyed their Mickey Sundaes as well. We're scheduled to eat their on my birthday in January. The refurb better be over!

I shall be off to find that Febreeze scent soon!!

Too bad about Plaza. Those pictures are literally night and day. It looks very drab with the walls up. :sad2: MK probably couldn't afford to close a TS during renovation. That's too bad.

Hope you got to the pool lickety split (sp?) and had a fun afternoon. I can only imagine what riveting entertainment you found... :rolleyes1

I didn't realize the view from the Plaza was so nice! Hmmm...it may be time to change up my ADRs. (I was already on the fence between Tony's and The Plaza.)

I've got an ADR at the Plaza in November and this will be our first time eating there. Hopefully the refurb is done or will be done by then. I had no idea it had such a beautiful view!

I, too love the H2O line of products from WDW. I'm using the last of mine from September. I couldn't bring much home since we took only carry ons. As it was my little plastic bags barely passed security. I had them stuffed pretty full. :thumbsup2

UGH on the renovations, that really sucks when you've been looking forward to something.

Poolside entertainment, I can't wait!

Oh my gosh, I have to say that I was cracking up reading your BC smell post. I haven't tried that Febreze scent before but I have to say that my husband recently spent a long time in the Yankee Candle store looking for a candle that would make our house smell like the Beach club. I think he had it narrowed down to 2 scents, went online on his phone to the Dis to double check it was the right scent (I guess it has been posted on the BC resort thread) and still couldn't decide if it smelled just right. He is obsessed with that smell as well since he loved our stay at the BC.

How nice that BBB allowed you to cancel with no fee! Telling the truth has perks!

The plaza does look awful. We ate there last year, and it was nice and bright... hopefully they get done with the renovations soon.

Loved the pictures with the wishing well-- especially the horizonatal one with the tops of both the castle and wishing well! You are talented!!
